Milford Motel, Manhatten Complaint - Very bad hotel for tourists

Review by gordonian on 2006-04-30
NEW YORK, MINNESOTA -- I have just returned today from 12 days at the MILFORD PLAZA on 45th st ,When I chose the hotel from the glossy brochure it looks really nice with beautiful arm chairs to relax in ,When I arrived I was given the car d key for my room which didnt work and I had to go down 18 floors each time ,and the girls on reception were so off hand you would thought they were doing you a favor .I complained to the under manager that the only place where you could get a cup of coffee was in the souvenir shop so you could tell what the coffee was like,The under manager told me that the hotel is only a transit hotel and not for tourists long stays ,so why isnt this stated in the brochure ,He upgraded me to the Milford club where you can have continental breakfast which was ok and also the use of computers free of charge ,The shower head didnt work and either the water was cold or dangerously hot ,the phone guy came twice to fix the phone and in the end had to change it ,There were no drapes in the room only sheer nylon and the furniture is very antiquted , If you have made a reservation take my advice and dont as the place is a dump ,The only good thing is it is central ,I have stayed in both expensive and cheap hotels throughout the world and this is the PITTS,There is noe Lounge only foue arkm chairs ?? in the lobby and the only bar is full of loud irish music ,nowhere to have a chat a quiet drink . YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ,,Stay at the Salvation Army it couldnt be any worse

What's wrong with loud Irish music?

It says on their website that the bar is called Garvey's Irish Pub - did you expect twangin' country music instead?
