Transmission Clinic Complaint - Bad Service
BEND, OREGON -- I was on vacation in central Oregon when my truck broke down 150 miles from Bend. I called the Transmission Clinic, explained where I was, and they offered to pay the tow bill if I brought my truck to them.
When I got there they wouldn't cover the $900 tow bill, but after a difficult negotiation they agreed to pay $200 of it. I gave them the go ahead to replace the transmission if they felt it needed to be fixed, and they said it would take 3 days to do the work.
Three days later they called to say it was ready to be picked up, explained they replaced the vacuum modular but that it still didn't shift correctly and recommended a new transmission. This is after I already gave them the go ahead to do the work.
I picked up the truck and started driving it the 10 hours home, but I couldn't keep it running without keeping the RPM's up. Once I got it home I took it to a local transmission shop and they found a disconnected vacuum line. Apparently the mechanics at the Transmission Clinic forgot to reconnect when they replaced the vacuum modular. Once it was reconnected the truck ran great.
My truck still has the original transmission in it and its running strong. I sort of felt the $350 I paid to the Transmission Clinic was a good price just to get my truck back and out of the hands of their mechanic, but I’m still extremely dissatisfied with the service and felt I wasted a ton of money even being towed to their shop.
