Citi Auto Financial Complaint - Citibank Lost Cart Title

My mother-in-law purchased a new car from the local Chrysler dealership. After a few months, Citigroup, NA purchased the loan. She made every payment, on time. When the vehicle was paid off, Citigroup stated that they had "lost the title", and that she would have to file for a new one. It is my belief that while Citigroup had been receiving loan payments, they ought to be held liable for the lost title.

Too bad I did not see this earlier. I worked for Citi Auto for 9 years. If they lost a title, then call customer service and demand they pay for duplicate or replacement title. Most of the time it is faster to pay for it up front and have Citi Auto reimburse you the fee. If you pester them enough, they will pay for a new title.
