Livingston Volkswagen Complaint - Misleading Sales Tactics

Review by dbgabbard on 2006-05-05
WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA -- Be Warned!!! I purchased a certified pre-owned 2001 beetle from LIVINGSTON VOLKSWAGEN IN WOODLAND HILLS, CALIFORNIA in mid June, 2004. The beetle had only 10,000 miles at the time and came the standard 2 year, 24,000 CPO warranty, but I was "sold" (more like pressured) into buying an extened warranty to cover another 5 years. HOWEVER, what the sales person R.J. forgot to mention was that the extened warranty I signed for (which I thought was going to start from the day of my purchase)actually would be from the date the car was manufactured! This meant my extened 5 year warranty was actually only good for another year and a half! The CPO warranty was for 2 years, which means I paid $1100 for nothing! I received no extra coverage with the 5 year extened they sold and they knew this! When confronted with what happened, the sales manager DENNIS said too bad and he was not going to do anything about it. We shall see about that. And this my friends is why we hate and mistrust car dealerships and car sales people. Thank you Livingston VW, you put the "living" into the "living up" to stereotypes!

Yet dbgabbard raises a good point i.e., unscrupulous sales tactics after the fact. http://www.grumblemutterspit.org/vwsucks
and check your local BBB and see if they're members and go that route.
