Bank One Complaint - Bank One Damaged My Credit Report - Credit Card Services
Credit Card Services - Complaint
DAYTON, OHIO -- Bank One used to be my bank and they had mailed me a promotional check to rollover another credit card balance to their lower rate. A separate credit card was with Merrick Bank and I decided to roll over the balance to Bank One.
Merrick Bank kept saying that no payment had been made, but Bank One assured me it had and they had the promotional check to prove it. So who am I to believe, my bank or Merrick?
Neither one would lift a finger to help me find the answer and it took months of research to figure things our. I noticed - while at the library - that Bank One had a separate location for processing all payments/checks. I discovered, they had fraudulently cashed the promotional check wihch was written to Merrick and Merrick never had been paid. Fortunately, there was an authorizaton stamp on the back indicating Bank One's processing group had cashed it.
Even though things did get resolved, I had to do all the detective work by myself and since I hadn't been paying Merrick - Bank One said they had the check - they now hold me accountable and say I should have been paying them even though Bank One said different. Once again, the customer gets burned for the mistakes of big business

Well...let's put it this way...Bank One was recently taken over by Chase Bank...it may have taken place during the turn over...either way, if it ends up with Chase, then you troubles are just beginning.
