Dish Network Complaint - Dish Network > - Satellite Service
NILES, MICHIGAN -- I don't know where to begin....My husband decided the kids needed satellite. He ordered Dish Network and scheduled installation.
The company scheduled the installation for a Sunday (??) at 2PM. At 4PM, the installer (subcontractor) called to say he was running late (NO KIDDING!)and was on his way. At 7PM, my husband called to see what was up. Again, he was running late and was on his way. At 9:30PM the installer called and said he was coming, my husband said it was too late and he would need to come the following day. He showed up on Monday at 12:00, said it would take approximately 2 hrs. 6 hours later, he said he was finished and wanted me to sign the 18 month contract. I refused as we had not agreed to a contract and were paying for the month to month service. He left and guess what? WE HAD NO SERVICE! I immediately call Dish Network..."We can have someone out on Saturday".
In the meantime, we receive our first bill...2 months charges. I immediately called billing and explained that we still do not have satellite service that if he checked the service schedule he would see that and that we should not be charged until we have the service. The 'Customer Service Rep.', who I swear, from the sound of his accent and difficulty with the English language, moonlights as the Gov. of California, stated he could not issue a credit until we had service. Does that make sense to anyone else?
We waited and the guy showed at about 4:00. The first thing he said was, "I see what the problem is...New Guy...Inexperience". Great! Instead of fixing the satellite that was originally installed, and by the way, is 4 times bigger than the satellite the second guy installed, he decided to install on the side of our house. I was very clear that I did not want anything mounted to the house because we were preparing to re-side and re-roof and guess what?! He mounted it to the side of the house. He said, "Your facia is loose and it probably will come loose...you'll need to go up there every once in a while and tighten it." Brilliant! He also made arrangements to come back the following day to return and remove the original monster that the first tech had improperly installed.
Well, we had service for the first few days. However, we never saw the second tech again (Galaxy Satellite in Niles, MI) so we still have the huge, worthless satellite. Service began to go out every few seconds. We called the "Troubleshooting, Customer Service Rep"...NO it wasn't raining, NO there wasn't any cloud cover, and NO it's not windy or snowing! The sun is shining and it's a beautiful day with the exception of no satellite! 45 minutes later...we had a very weak signal and apparently that was good enough for the rep because he was finished.
Again, no service...We have spotty reception on local channels (which is terrific when we hook up the rabbit ears, which is what we have been doing) and no satellite channels at all. Again, I called the Customer Service (It Urks me every time I have to call them that) and they can't troubleshoot because there is cloud cover. I repeated everything to her that I have stated above and told her I didn't care, that troubleshooting isn't the problem, the problem is that they are not installed correctly and I want someone out here! "We can't schedule service until we troubleshoot and we can't troubleshoot until there is no cloud cover" My response..."I'm done! Schedule someone to come and take this crap out of my yard and off of my house!" Her response, "We don't do that! We send you a box for you to take the items to the post office and we don't take the satellites back. You have to pay $120 to have them removed."
I could go on and on...We still have not received a credit for time without service do to improper installation, have been disconnected (which we never had service anyway!)and are waiting for the box to return their 'quality' equipment.
If you choose to go with Dish Network, don't say you haven't been warned....BAD INSTALLATION...BAD BILLING CUSTOMER SERVICE...BAD TECHNICAL SERVICE...AND...NO RECEPTION! From all of the other reviews, it doesn't't appear that this is a problem in only one region but rather the service is horrible in all areas across the country.
