Wal-Mart Complaint - Guarantee not so - returns
QUEBEC, CANADA -- My husband bought a pair of work jeans from Walmart. The first day that he wore them the crotch ripped out of them. Climbing over some pipes on the job he heard some stitches pop. It wasn't like the jeans were too tight either. Yes, they were under twenty bucks but who's going to buy brand name or designer jeans only to render them filthy with work? These jeans were also advertised as tough work jeans, guaranteed for one year.
So, my husband continued his work day with a hole in his pants doing the greasy work that he does. Of course, upon arrival home he had a huge hole in his pants and yes, he was filthy as usual.
He still had the receipt and so I went to return them. I suppose the condition of the jeans (the greasiness), raised eyebrows at the returns counter at Walmart. The woman at the counter said she needed to get the employee from that department. Again, raised eyebrows. "Jean- Department-Lady" took the jeans away and came back with the verdict. No. The reason was that the jeans were too soiled. I told her that these are "work jeans" for working in and getting dirty, hence the description of them. My purpose of this visit to Walmart was to be honoured the guarantee on the obvious poor stitching and not to gawk at dirty jeans!(Okay, I wasn't sarcastic to her. I'm just venting now.) Again, sorry but no. I said that this wasn't acceptable and that you shouldn't sell products that are advertised as guaranteed if you don't honour it.
I mean, did I really want this headache for twenty bucks anyway? What kind of scam did they think I was trying to pull? It's the point. I guess I should have washed the jeans before trying to return them.
