National Cellular Owners Association, Inc. Complaint - Insurance

Review by Ipolitico on 2006-05-17
Bought insurance when bought two phones thru wirefly. Lost one phone may 5th. NCOA site says that my claim is denied and the reason will be eamiled/mailed out to me . Waited one week and there has been no reply.

Who's gonna pay? Wirefly and Cingualr because they encouarge me to purchase this insurance. I close my checking account after order some more firefly phones and close a few new lines and keep the phones. Then we will call it even. Who's gonna play who..

Insurance for a cellphone just sounds like a bad idea. Kind of like getting insurance for your car rental when you already have it. Doesn't your homeowner's insurance cover your goods if they are stolen? Or did you just lose it? I know some plans cover this kind of stuff. Though if you have a high deductibe it may not be worth filing a claim.

Good point Sparticus. Many homeowner and renter policies also cover "mysterious disappearance". But, again, a high deductible may negate the utiliy of such a claim. I've always looked at item specific insurance like I do extended warranties. Avoid them both.
