House.Com Complaint - Sales Pitch vs Reality ; 1000 Miles Apart
NEVADA -- House.com calls you and tells you they have leads that are checked both for email and telephone reliabilty and they check credit history (it is also in the FAQs) and offer, for $100 more, to conference call you to real live customers.
When you agree to sign up , you do so by "exclusive zip code " and the agent goes to great lengths to see if he can guarantee whether the zip code or zip codes can generate the number of leads you want. He tells you the leads will come from your first choice - first and then the second choice - second etc etc
When you sign the agreement, in the fine fine print, it says House.com reserves the right to substitute zipcodes within a ten mile radius of the zip codes you have chosen. You are still thinking of the sales pitch : first zip code -- first ; second zip code , second . But they mean literally any zipcode that borders your choicen zip codes. Thus I did not get the first zip code I signed up for where the average house is $800,000 but the neighboring zip code where the houses are $300,000.
When you write to them to ask if surely this is not a mistake, they don't even pretend to have any customer service but instead bluntly tell you "read your agreement"
Not sure if it made a difference because the "leads " I got -- like others have said here - were old or the leads claimed they never signed up with House.Com
Like others, I will file a complaint with the N.C dept of consumer affairs
