Miniature Blue Heeler

GREENWOOD, ALASKA -- Purchased my miniature Blue Heeler from Glenda in July of 2018. Anyone who is looking to buy a miniature Blue Heeler should already know they are not AKC. I could care less if my dog is purebred or has history of something else as mentioned in other reviews, because I love him regardless. Although it took over a week for a flight to Seattle to be arranged and confirmed, Glenda was friendly and responsive to my daily emails asking for an update.

Growing up, Pike was so easy to train. Within a week of being home he was completely potty trained. Learning tricks and direction took less than 5 minutes. Our “child” turned one this month and we couldn't be happier! He has some aggressive/protective streaks as expected, but more importantly loves to cuddle, gets along with all dogs and humans, and is too smart for his own good. Thanks to the awesome experience we had raising one puppy, we adopted another from a different breeder but wish we had returned to The Cowgirls Ok.

Love My Puppy

GREENWOOD, ILLINOIS -- Purchased a Cowboy Corgi boy from the Peaches and Tippy litter. The breeder accepted half payment prior, and the other half when we went to pick up our precious little boy. Communication was good, however, both the breeder and I have lives, so this understandably took quite some time. Checked the website, and my emails daily, for any updates as our puppy grew. All went well with that. Arrangements were made to pick up the puppy days in advance, which didn't bother my husband or I. The road trip adventure getting him, was just as fun as receiving him! It was a long drive from North West IL to the decided Oklahoma meeting place.

Turned out, upon arrival, we were stuck waiting a few hours for our puppy. This was due to other buyers causing complications. (Lot of people were late meeting with the breeder for their pups, and some not even showing up. Making her late for others she had to meet at other places after. She does what she can.) Anyways, we meet her, and mid-talk, she hands me the puppy. Gently puts him in my arms. It was instant love! Felt like the pup and I instantly took to each other. (I was so happy didn't even notice he peed on me, so watch out! They mark what they like!)

He is currently very healthy, hyper, happy, and about five months old. The breeder did give us a little food for him to bring back, but he was weaned off of it quickly. We brought our own food, and the pup took to a new brand of puppy chow almost immediately. (We used Science Diet.)

I will note that immediately arriving back to Illinois we took him to the vet for a checkup. Vet gave the okay, and that all was well with him. He's had four arranged vaccines since then. Which is to be expected as a new puppy parent. The breeder provided us with papers that helped with the vet too. To be honest the whole ordeal of buying him was only a little bit of a hassle. It's more of a hassle owning a pup. Looking at my little guy's eyes now though, and having a friend like him - totally worth it! Such a relief to know he's all ours. Couldn't have asked for a better experience and new chapter in our lives!

False Advertising - Not Purebred

GREENWOOD, ARKANSAS -- I purchased a mini Australian cattle dog from https://www.thecowgirlsok.com back in 2016. After doing some research I had basically come to the conclusion that these were not purebred Australian cattle dogs as mini's don't truly exist. The owner has an entire portion of her website dedicated to explaining that her dogs are 100% purebred.

I ended up getting the puppy that I wanted anyway, taking a chance. I recently had a DNA test done and she is 50% Australian Cattle Dog and 50% mixed breed terrier. it went back further than 3 generations so it was not able to pinpoint an exact breed. It did however say the most likely was Chihuahua as well as rat terrier. The exact two dogs she names, claiming have never been used to get these dogs "mini". She also used to have pics on her old website of a rat terrier on her farm.

The owner was great to communicate with until she was paid in full. Nearly impossible to get a hold of her after. Nightmare trying to get the dog. She kept claiming she had issues with flights for a couple weeks and could not give a definitive answer as to when to expect the dog. I had to drive about an hour to pick her up so it wasn't something I could do immediately without planning. She was very rude in emails as well when I explained my worries with her. My dog also had two different kinds of works when I finally got her.

Don't get me wrong, I love my dog and am very happy with her. I got quite lucky as she has a lot of energy obviously but is a very good tempered dog. Great to take on hikes, snowshoeing, mountain biking, etc. As much as I love having a smaller Australian cattle dog, I would never use this breeder again.

ALASKA -- This lady is a NUTCASE! I had a horrible experience. She was alright at first when we were communicating. I put a $250 deposit on hold for a puppy. After that lady knew I invested money she showed her true colors. I asked her not to dock the tails of the puppy. She became aggravated and said if their tail looks not full length she will dock it. I thought that was weird of her statement "full length??"

Well, I didn't hear from her for about a month after that and she never mentioned anything about dates of shipping the puppy. Until I look onto her site and she just posted up a random date that puppies from that litter will be shipped. It turned out to be the week I would be out of town for work. So I contact her to try to have the puppy shipped the week after. She was complaining about how the puppy would be 10 weeks old and by itself. I'm thinking to myself, "lady you have at least three litters you posted up the same time as this puppy, you can't just have the puppy chill with another litter or with his mom?"

Then it dawn to me that 10 weeks was a stretch. I looked at the calendar did the math. This puppy was only 7 weeks old. So I kindly let her know her count of the days was wrong. She didn't like that and yelled crazy off the wall things. Her speech was slurred and slow. This lady must be medicated or a drinking mid day, it was just weird. I tried to calm her down and I actually apologized and stated I wasn't trying to upset her.

The way she yelled and spoke I thought the transaction was done. So I asked her for my deposit back and she yelled, "NO!!! You'll get a puppy when I send you a puppy" and hung up. I received an email 5 minutes later that we would work dates out. WHAT THE HECK just happened? It was weird.

After that I refused to give that nut job any more money. I googled her and there was this page and I wish I saw this before I gave her money. I went on the word of a friend who had a good experience with her. I should have researched her first. Well I'm out $250. Some people had good experiences with her. I'm one of the people where it was a terrible experience.

Do you really want to risk taking a chance with someone who is two faced and you don't know which personality you will get by a flip of a coin? Look at her site. She has many litters at one time week after week. PUPPY MILL. She isn't even a reputable heeler breeder. Look it up. Best of luck. I got a puppy from a reputable breeder and he is perfect.

Terrible Service and Dogs in Terrible Shape

GREENWOOD, AR, ALASKA -- My closest friends purchased a puppy from this whack job and she refuses to communicate via telephone and only uses email. She insisted on using an airline to transport the pup but our friends hired a transporter to pick the dog up from a predetermined location from the lady. The night before the transporter called her to make sure there were no changes and she tried to switch the dog out for no reason and refused to give explanation, "as a breeder I don't have to" is what they got in response. When the transporter received the dog it was lethargic, and vomiting, not to mention bloody stool.

Halfway home the transporter decided that it was bad enough to take it to the vet... after hours in the middle of Colorado. When the tests came back the vet told the transporter that the pup had parvo and has had it for a series of days prior to pick up, and the vaccine chart that the scam artist gave the transporter showed that the pup had received her shots late and that the booster shot was give the day of pickup and not on the recommended scheduling cycle. And that the wormer being used was a cheaper brand that is too harsh for puppies livers.

The pup had to be left in Colorado for 5 days at the vet while they try to save the poor puppy. So in this whole mess when trying to contact the breeder, she refuses to call still and she is trying to blame the transporter for the disease. Terrible person, breeder, and business if not willing to make right. DO NOT PURCHASE A PUPPY FROM THIS lady!

GREENWOOD, ARKANSAS -- We chose a pup after carefully researching both mother and father, sent the entire amount plus shipping. When it was time for us to have our girl shipped, Glenda said she didn't want to send her and told us we had to choose another pup. When asked what was wrong and if she could send a pic, she refused, saying that as the breeder, she didn't have to give us a reason. We suspected that the pup was dead. If she didn't already have our $800, we would have backed out right there. We chose another pup from the litter and she shipped her using Delta.

I could NOT believe the state our poor girl was in when I picked her up. She was emaciated, skin and bones, dehydrated, and could barely stand up, and had a horribly bloody stool. We immediately brought it to the vet who told us she was "full of worms", and had coccidia which was causing bloody diarrhea. He told me that coccidia has a 13 day incubation period so it was brought from the breeder.

I wrote her an email detailing everything so that maybe she could get her dogs to the vet, and all she could do was reply hatefully, totally on the defensive, and the next day there was a diatribe on her website blaming Delta for everything.

So, now, our pup is 6 months old. She has a scabby spot on the top of her head and the vet told me today that it's non-contagious Demodectic Mange which is passed from mother to pup. The vet told me to contact the breeder and tell her to have the mother fixed. I won't contact that Wack Job, but I am contacting the local shelter.

My Dog Has PLL and Is Going Blind!

GREENWOOD, ARKANSAS -- I purchased a heeler puppy from this breeder in 2011. In 2014 my dog was diagnosed with Primary Lens Luxation. This means both the parents were carriers of this disease and were bred anyway! My now six year old dog is going blind and faces surgical removal of both eyes, not to mention three years of pain and poor health. The owner was less than professional and difficult to contact. The puppy arrived filthy and worm and flea infested. I would NEVER buy from this breeder again. If you are considering buying a puppy, my advice is RUN from her unless you want to spend thousands of dollars on an unhealthy one, destined for pain and suffering!

Fantastic Breeder

ARKANSAS -- Our experience with this breeder was wonderful, and the little male "cattle" dog that my husband drove from AZ to pick up in person has been a real special addition to our family. We have other cattle dogs (Heelers) and love the breed. Wyatt is so healthy and happy and pretty much runs the show around. He turns 2 yrs old on 03/09, and on that date I am flying to Tulsa, OK to meet the breeder who will be presenting me with my new "little" girl.

We can't wait to get her, based on our experience 2 years ago with Wyatt. The health, build, and attitude of this breeder's pups is amazing. Like I said we have others and they are great, but this breeder produces perfect puppies. Even our vet commented on Wyatt's build and health at the first visit. The new puppy will make a great addition to our family - and that's gonna be a nice gift for Wyatt's 2nd birthday.

We had NO problems with our first purchase from this breeder, and the second purchase of this little girl pup has been even smoother if possible. If you are thinking of getting a new pet we would highly recommend this breed, and definitely encourage you to use this wonderful, loving breeder.

Don't Buy From This Breeder! I Have Two Blind Dogs! :(

GRRENWOOD, ARKANSAS -- I bought two mini heelers from her at the same time, and one started going blind at 5 years old and now my other one is having the same issues a year later! I have spent so much TIME and MONEY (not to mention a lot of worry and grief) dealing with this issue. She is an irresponsible breeder. I'm so upset because my two absolutely sweet and adorable dogs are suffering because she didn't run tests or do anything she should and kept breeding and selling more dogs. My advice is to never buy from her.

GREENWOOD, ARKANSAS -- I purchased a red heeler boy out of princess and tuffy five years ago. Glenda was great and everything was what she said. He arrived safe and barking. After letting him out twice his first morning he was trained to go to the door and let me know it was time to go out. He's been the easiest heeler I have ever had with no health problems. My other heeler not from her lived till 16 with no health issues. 3 people who have met my dog at age two and purchased puppies from her with no problems. I see their dogs often and talk to the owners and they have no problems. I adore my dog and can't imagine my life without him.

There's a few people that he does not like. I don't either. There are a couple of dogs he does not like. If a cat runs he's in for the chase. If it stops he turns and runs himself. I tell people all the time that these dogs are not for everyone. My last heeler was not social so I made sure I took this one everywhere. I even travel out of the country with him. He's awesome. I had the chance to stop in to see Glenda's new place in park last fall. She did have a lot of dogs, borderline puppy mill/hoarder, BUT there was not a skinny or unhealthy dog, horse or cow on that property. (I saw no roosters.) Those dogs LOVE her and are very attached.

Yes she should save some of the best of her dogs and maybe have 4 litters a year and fix and find homes for some of her adults. Will she? Who knows. I would take one. I would also purchase another dog from her. These dogs need hard training from the very day you get them and no matter what breeder you get them from they are not always good with kids because they DO nip at heels (heelers).

My dog does not but the one I had before did. I am sad to hear about all the problems some are having with the puppies but do not tell people not to purchase or (rescue) from her. They do need homes and maybe they will not have any problems. How do you know if you got one from another breeder you would not have the same or worse problems???
