ADELPHIA Complaint - What kind of business are you running?
FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA -- I've had Adelphia services for cable TV/internet since August of 2005. I've made every payment on time but some how they never received one of my payments! I went to the local Adelphia store in Fullerton, California, to show them my bank statements which clearly showed the funds had been withdrawn from my bank account. They said they would take care of it.
That was in March of 2006.
I called them many times & asked them to fix the problem. Every time, the supervisor said she would "take care of it." Once, a rep even called me back and said she already took care of it. I should have asked what she meant by "took care of it." Then, they claimed that they sent out a refund check to my old address without my knowledge. First of all, why would you send a refund check to the customer when you were accusing them of not paying the amount due?? Secondly, they sent it to my old address which I'm not living there anymore. So I have no idea where that check is and their system is still showing that I owe them that amount.
I called them again today because I have received the "final notice before your services are disconnected." They said they were still investigating the problem and that they needed to find out if the check had been cashed or not. They said the same things when I called them last month. Apparently, the "investigation" about the check's whereabouts is still going on and until they can confirm I had not cashed the check they can't do anything about it.
The rep had the nerves to ask me "I can take your payment right now to avoid your services being disconnected." WTF!! I asked to speak with a supervisor, who was condescending in her tone and said there was nothing she could do.
So now I don't know what to do next. I don't owe them anything! I don't want to have to pay that extra amount to avoid my services being disconnected. I asked if they could guarantee me that they would make the adjustment as soon as they find out about the check, then I'd be willing to pay that amount. I would be credited back of course. But the supervisor said she would not make that guarantee!
So...What they're saying is that if I pay that extra amount today, it's like admitting I failed to make a payment in the first place so now I'm paying it. They may not make any adjustment or credit me back because who knows...they may never find out what happened to that check. Based on their customer service I find it very difficult to trust anything they say.
This has been going on since March and every time I called Adelphia I got the same response that they would "take care of it." It's now the end of May and the problem has yet been fixed. They said my services would be cancelled if I don't make that payment before they find out anything the check. I have until June 13 to make a payment. I told them I will not make any more payment because I don't owe them anything!
Anyone out there with the same problem with Adelphia?? Does anyone have any advice for me?
