Federal Express Corporation Complaint - No package & Tracking literally worthless - Ground Home Delivery

Ground Home Delivery - Complaint
Review by RFaust27 on 2006-05-30
I ordered a large shipment of candles that were shipped on 5/24/06 Fedex Ground Home Delivery. As of the date of shipping the estimated delivery date was 5/27/06 (Saturday). On 12am on Saturday it shows as leaving GA (I'm in FL)... and that's the last the tracking shows.

Since then I've called Fedex a few times with absolutely no help. The only thing they can tell me is exactly what I already see on the tracking info which still leaves me at "Where is my package??"

If you notice as of today 5/30 not only has there been no updates, they've also removed the estimated delivery date of 5/27/06 and there is NO estimated delivery.

When I called on Saturday I was told by the guy I spoke with that it was in FL, when I called today the guy I spoke with said it's on it's way to FL (going by the tracking...).

I'm providing the detailed tracking below to show what bs this is, but mainly because I'm expecting the tracking to be "adjusted"

Each time I've called the support comments "this is ground home delivery..." like "WHY ARE YOU CALLING???" And everytime I think... WHY ARE YOU OFFERING THE SERVICE????

I can't fathom why Fedex is having such a hard time with this. UPS has never complained about a service they offer, and they live up to their name. Fedex on the otherhand seems to offer it in competition, but doesn't really want to be bothered by it.

I don't know about everyone else, but for me - I believe if Fedex actually told people what their Home Delivery really entitled you to (which I believe should be the same standard as every other service) they would lose alot of their business to UPS which offers the same service on a higher and more reliable level.

Unfortunatly, anytime you ship Ground, UPS or Fedex, the delivery date is never guaranteed. You could call and ask them to put a tracer on the package. Another thing I noticed, you said the estimated delievery date was the 27th. Usually you have to pay extra for Saturday delivery. UPS charges $10.00 extra to deliver on a Saturday, otherwise they just hold the package until Monday. Of course if they don't deliever on Saturdays (w/o an extra charge) they should fix their estimated date but I'm sure what they would say to that is, "It is just an estimate".

Actually Ground Home Delivery is "special" no Monday deliveries, but you get Saturday service if the drivers feel like it...

Delivery Times 1–5 business days within the contiguous U.S
Service Days Tuesday–Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Money-Back Guarantee Policy

FedEx Home Delivery Money-Back Guarantee. FedEx Ground will credit or refund the transportation charge and residential surcharge to a shipper if we do not deliver the shipper’s residential package(s) by the end of the scheduled delivery day as published on fedex.com.

By removing the estimated delivery date they pretty much covered their butts with that. So yes it is only an estimate, but an estimate they claim to stand behind, which you see they really don't.

Anyway I had a trace put on it when it didn't show "out for delivery" Saturday. The lady called this morning and told me that it was "misrouted" and it should be in Tampa, FL by Thurs. I also asked her why the tracking didn't reflect this and she admitted it wouldn't be updated until it arrived in FL. Now the tracking reflects Orlando, FL.

So not only do they cover their butts where their gaurantee is concerned, they also covered their butts where their misrouting it is concerned.

Where UPS is concerned I've had 1 package not arrive on the estimated delivery date, they updated the tracking to reflect the delay and actually stated an updated delivery date - unlike Fedex who completely removed the estimated delivery date and stopped all tracking until it was back on route...

You get what you pay for. Send it overnight next time.

I actually paid for UPS Ground, the lady I bought the candles from sent them Fedex instead - so you don't always get what you paid for =)

Not to mention my complaint isn't about delivery time, it's about the lack of delivery date, tracking & customer support for a service they provided and about the attitude I got when asking them about the location of my package in regards to the method of shipping.

I don't care if it was on horseback as long as their tracking tells me where it's located OR when I called they were actually able to tell me - since tracking IS part of the service.

Hmm I guess the problems you'll have really depends on what area you live in. UPS around here is ok, except for my apt. complex they require a signature for EVERY package, which is annoying considering this is a expensive, nice, totally safe complex. When I lived in CT they would just leave it on my doorstep and there were people in THAT apt complex I wouldn't trust!UPS's delivery times aren't always accurate though. Fedex... I think I have only had one package delivered by them and all went smoothly. Personally, I would only ship USPS because I'm cheap and have never had a problem with them and packages.. LOL. I shipped a mothers day box to my mom and it took 2 days and was $4.00. UPS would have charged me like $7.00. With technology today there isn't any reason that fedex or ups shouldn't be able to tell you exactly where your package is at all times.
