arthur frommers budget travel club Complaint - fraudulent charges

DEARBORN, MICHIGAN -- in about August of 1999 I was called and offered a free trial membership . I accepted but called to cancel well before the allotted time because I just wasn't going to use the service. when I got my charge statement I noticed a charge for $69.95. I called and again told them I did not want the membership and got a cancellation number. in October of this year I noticed a charge for this same travel club. looking over my bills of the last two years I found that not only had they not cancelled my membership but they hadn't removed the original charge and had even charged me for last year and I hadn't caught it. I have repeatedly called for a full refund and other than having the recent charge removed have gotten no where with the original and subsequent errors. they keep telling me that they have to confirm that this is a legitimate cancellation number.

To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:

I would like a full refund of the two charges of $69.95 totaling $139.85.

At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.

Budget does not have a travel club. I have had a similar experience what they did was transfer you to Traveler's Advantage. Traveler's Advantage are the ones that billed you. Even if Budget issued you a refund Traveler's Advantage would most likely continue to bill you.
