Skyauction.com Complaint - Gone Downhill fast - Travel Auctions

Travel Auctions - Complaint
Review by mikew on 2006-05-31
NEW YORK, NEW YORK -- I have purchased over a dozen trips from Skyauction but my
last 2 have been a disaster. They have completely lost it.
Amoung the problems are:
. many errors on listing, some tend to misrepresent the
trip.
. they do not honor what they are selling. My last trip was supposed to include transfers but they did not provide them.
. customer service is arrogant and tries to stonewall you.
. errors occured in reservations and they really don't seem to care.
Overall they are no longer worth the hassle to save a few bucks.

It is like the online travel industry doesn't care about customers. They are just trying to make money. It happened the same to me with EXPEDIA (read my complaints). I used before for several trips (with no problems) until the last one was a disaster due to their fault. The other companies seem to be same. Who will win the contest for the worst online travel agency?

Doe, when are you gonna give EXPEDIA and US a BREAK?

Not for now. It is a good cause. One feels better. You should ask EXPEDIA and the other companies to stop doing unethical business. Some travelers appreciate the information we put here. Maybe the online travel industry needs a big change...Do you travel? wich company do you use?

Just a question to mikew. As victim of skyaution are you going to use EXPEDIA as an alternative?
Your report here about skayauction.com and reports from many other people about let say travelocity, orbitz, priceline to mention a few, makes me feel totally umcomfortable about using online travel agencies.
I'm not against online business. It should be great if companies are honest.

We also have used Sky Auction for a good amount of travel but are having a bad experience right now. We currently have 3 auctions purchased for lodging on St Croix and deposits were taken. They are for lodging only. They were purchased and deposits made in mid April and we tried to book them today and received e-mail from Sky Auction that they are no longer available. We never received notification of this and the deposits were not refunded. We can not get a person to answer the phone and have held on the line patiently. Would one not expect that if something was purchased and a deposit made and the company thereafter ceases business with the supplier that already paid for contracts would be honored or that there would notification of this to those who hold contracts existing -and refunds? We booked our air reservations and are now scrambling.
