Hoover Company Complaint - Electrical Cord
PHOENIX, ARIZONA -- I am disappointed with the quality of the electrical cord that Hoover has chosen to use in their vacuum cleaners. I have always used my appliance as instructed in the manual and I take normal precautions to ensure that I do not damage parts. In normal use, one might run over the cord. The quality of the cord is so poor that the vacuum cleaner destroys it. My cord became frayed so I contacted customer service to advise them of the fire hazard. I was told to go have it replaced at the labor rate of $40 per hour minimum and a charge of $16 for the new cord. My expense of course. Hoover felt that the quality of the cord was fine. If I chose to continue using my vacuum cleaner of 6 months, it was my problem. It is not covered by the warranty. No concern for my safety or my decision to purchase Hoover again.
When I visited the authorized repair service center in Mesa, AZ, there was no concern for the quality of the Hoover product or customer satisfaction. I was asked if I wanted to buy a new one-mine was 6 months old!
