Aamco, Chesapeake VA Complaint - Car may never be the same.

Review by ice3025 on 2006-06-05
CHESAPEAKE, VIRGINIA -- VERY NICE PEOPLE BUT...CAR MAY NEVER BE THE SAME.
--2 WEEKS TO DO THE JOB, TOOK IT BACK & THEY HAVE HAD IT ANOTHER WEEK. (so far)
I had my o/d light come on which indicated there was an electrical/transaxial problem.
I called them to see if they worked on both elect. & trans. problems, and agreed to bring them my car.
I knew they were booked up over the weekend, but that Monday was told it was a transmission problem.
We agreed on the repair & I waited...
My car was there form May 5th - May 19th. I drove my car for a week, then the o/d light came on.
I pulled over & waited for awhile. when I restarted my car, everything was alright. In less than a half mile, my engine light came on.
When I opened my hood, I could see where there was transmission fluid all over wires, connectors, and
other parts all over the right side of the car, where the transmission fluid had leaked out.
When the tow truck came, he agreed there a hose was not connected, which allow the fluid to leak out.
I took my car back, and the owner is now trying to tell me that I blew something, but he is going to repair it
at no cost. THEY ARE FIXING @ NO COST BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THEY CAUSED THE PROBLEM.
My car has now been back there from May 27th (Memorial Weekend) to the present (todays' date June 5th)

That seems to be the way of business now, just standard lie, blame someone else, make the customer feel it is his/her fault. But hey at least they say they are fixing it. Good luck

Amen Lid. I doubt they are fixing the problem because they are #1 in customer service. Your vehicle was examined by another qualified person who can attest to the nature of the failure. If you were able to get the vehicle back to them without the other, qualified assessment I strongly doubt they would be repairing it at no cost. Word of warning...when a repair fails have it looked at by another mechanic before returning it to the original shop...unless you are 100% CERTAIN the original shop has integrity. This type of situation happens a LOT!

Hi, according to my research this location had 2 disputes which were resolved http://data.hamptonroads.bbb.org/search.html
Since you said "very nice people" but caused major damage at his expense. I would find a better mechanic (see that same BBB site | Auto Repair). Wait and see if your problem is resolved, if not file a BBB compliant. You've got to be aggressive and not docile.
