Culligan Finance Compay Complaint - Unfair interest charge

Review by pearl on 2006-06-09
ST. PAUL, MINNESOTA -- I took out a water softener contract for 2700. for no interest if paid in 6mos. I paid one sixth each month but was charged interest for the entire contract because they said my final payment was 3 days late; yet on the bill they inidcated that I had until the first of the month.

Was the purchase six months from the date of purchase? That date and the date the bill was due might have been 3 days apart.

Pearl: That stinks - Did you have to pay 6 months finance charge on the entire 2700 or did they retroactively compute finance charge based upon the outstanding balance at the end of each billing period?

They intentionally manipulate the wording on statements to confuse people and they don't like giving back any interest as that's what pays their salaries
