Frigidaire Professional Series Complaint - Very Poor Quality Products - Dishwasher & Refrigerator

Dishwasher & Refrigerator - Complaint
Review by FrigidaireHater on 2006-06-10
SPRING HILL, FLORIDA -- We purchased all new PROFESSIONAL SERIES Frigidaire appliances in mid 09/04 for our new home... We went to an appliance store in our new town... ALL stainless steel - double door fridge, dishwasher, BI microwave and convection oven/range... we have had nothing but problems with the dishwasher - rarely does it get everything clean, the circuit board needed replacing less than a month after purchase, and to top that off, this is the 3rd whole top/plastic unit where the circuit board is located, that needs to be replaced. After it washes the steam embeds what appears to be the soap into the plastic and it turns white... white that won't come off, on black plastic. It just soaks it in and stains it! It's a mess. The fridge icemaker doesn't work properly even after being replaced shortly after purchase. Although I am complaining about how cheaply made these products are, I blame myself for all of this since I walked into an appliance store and said NO FRIGIDAIRES!! I always thought of them as "cheap." I was there to purchase maytags. The salesman told me how wonderful this company has become since Electrolux took it over... blah, blah blah, and he sold us. He said we would be delighted and if not, come back to see him. Two weeks out with the fridge and one month out with the dishwasher problems I called him and reminded him of the conversation. I wanted him to replace the junk...of course, he said no way. So, shame on me... but never again.

You don't want Maytag, either. Check out all the complaint letters on this site and others about Maytag appliances. I'm in the market for a new refrigerator and dishwasher, and I don't have any idea what brand to buy. It seems that most appliances today are junk, no matter what brand.

I've never had any trouble with the Whilpool brand and is my first choice for appliances.

We just bought a new washer and dryer (GE brand). The guy at Lowes was telling us Whirlpool isn't bad, but they are the parent company of Maytag. One can only hope that their brand is still built differently than the maytags.

Stick with Whirlpool or GE.

Why is Kmart now selling Sears appliances?
Posted by Doc J on 2006-06-10:
Maytag and Whirlpool are one and the same now. I'd stay away from both for a while. Whirlpool laid off around 1800 Maytag workers over in Iowa. Morale is bad and I doubt the about to be RIFfed employees are in a "customer service" frame of mind.

Interesting.

Why wouldn't KMart sell Sear's appliances? They are the same company.

Oh yeah...I forgot...

thanks to all for the input. didn't know that whirlpool and maytag are now the same. that's disheartening...

For what it may be worth apliances made by Whirlpool Corporation is what I would buy today, Frigidaire I would not recommennd to an enemy, GE is good in the cooking line, not so good in laundry and D/W. Whirlpool does have it's "dogs" but overall it is my preference.

I'm going thru a BAD DEAL with Maytag over a frig. that flooded the house, (don't even want to get into it again! It's posted)... but now I'm looking for something to replace it. IS THERE A DECENT ONE OUT THERE???? I've been reading about all the different brands here, and it looks like they're all under the Maytag umbrella! I had an Amana probably 20 yrs. ago, and it was wonderful, but now Amana is part of Maytag! Got any ideas you Boys and Girls?
Looks like it's a sign of the times...less quality and MORE CRAP !!!

I so agree with you on the Fridgedaire professional series. What junk! Our fridge is 5 years old and we have had to have the ice maker repaired and replace several times. The last time it took 8 visits from the repairman. Now the fridge does not work at all. I have a second fridge that is 22 years old (Sears) and is running fine. Ok,due to the age probably isn't energy efficent but it still is running and hasn't had to be repaired. What's with the junk they produce now? Not buying Frigidaire again and certainly telling any of my friends that are in the market not to buy them either.

I second creampunk. I got suckered by the 'professional' tagged on the product and I take all the blame for not doing my homework before buying into this.

Most professionals are busy people, usually go for quality and are willing to spend a bit more for peace of mind. The time spent catering to maintain these broken and 'cheaply built' products should have been spent working for my customers. If I billed Electrolux for all the time spent waiting for and scheduling repair technicians... and posting on this board, I could actually go out there and buy a brand new higher quality european set !! Which I am now forced to do !@#$

Try to stay light-years away from LG products. Bought a French Door several years ago (Thanksgiving), and the fridge quit working after one year and one month. After stumbling on a blog about LG complaints, all similar to mine. They do not stand behind their products. Got rid of it. Also own Professional Series range. Just replaced the computer. Also during Thanksgiving season.

We bought a neww Frigidare side by side a year ago within seven months the computer failed rendering the appliance inoperable. Lowes replaced it with another unit identical to it. The water filters stopped up after six weeks of operation. I've ordered a bypass for it so we canhave ice and water again. My suggestion to anyone reading this is do not choose Frigidare it's not the brand it used to be it's now owned by Elecrolux. We've had horrible service from these appliances.Do not waste your time and money!

I bought a Frigidaire Aqua surge d/w when we remodeled the kitchen simply for the appearance and because practically any new d/w would be quieter than our old one - we have an open plan from kitchen to family room and were unable to enjoy tv while the washer was running. Give me back my OLD d/w! The Frigidaire cleans nothing! Glasses always have to be hand washed when they come out of the d/w as do most of the silverware. I'll never buy Frigidaire again and can't wait until this one breaks down. As for whether there's any quality appliances out there - that's where these companies have got us "over a barrel". They have no intention of producing quality products such as America was used to back in the day. This way we have to keep replacing and repairing so they can keep taking our money. Look at the way houses are built today. Do you think any new home will be here in 100 years from now? There's no workmanship and no pride in things today.
Sorry. Got off on the subject there for a moment:-/

Frigidaire/Electrolux Professional PLRH1779GS3 all-refrigerator failed with refrigerant leak inside the sidewall (unrepairable) after 3 years. Selling something that is unrepairable and also fails in 3 years is irresponsible. But it is worse than that. It is part of a matched pair with an all-freezer (which is working fine). So buy a replacement? Impossible! Discontinued and unavailable after only 3 years! Replaced with a model with different dimensions [Was there design or manufacturing flaw with the original that triggered the redesign?] . Our only option now is to throw away the freezer and buy a complete new set, replacing cabinets in the processes. Ridiculous!
