Bill Britt Volkswagon Informative - Lied to My Face - service

FREDERICKSBURG, VIRGINIA -- I brought my Passat to Bill Britt Volkswagon because it has been smoking since I had my oil changed at a Jiffy Lube, also in Fredericksburg. I complained that there was smoke coming out of the hood and especially when the temperature was set at a certain range, the smoke seemed to be especially bad. I had the car there for a day and a half, was told by ***name removed*** that they found the problem, was given the estimate and assured the problem (and other problems) was fixed. I paid $1,700. I drove off,noticed that the air conditioning was blowing full blast and didn't get 2 tenths of a mile before the check engine censor went on, and about three other messages also sounded. I reviewed the estimate and the bill and right on there it says of the smoke "could not find the problem" ***name removed*** said they had found the problem and "that it would cost [$1,700] to fix.

They had tried to conceal the smoke problem by turning on the air conditioner. They charged me $230 for the censors that lasted 2 tenths of a mile, 10 times what the prior car repair place charged. As it turns out the jiffy lube, when taking out the air filter to replace it, failed to remove a gasket and so when they put the new air filter in with its own gasket the two gaskets created a gap through which smoke flowed. A little drunk guy figured that out in two seconds when I pulled into a quickie mart. In two seconds this guy asked questions and got right to the situation.

Jiffy Lube's in that are a member of the BBB file a complaint with them. http://www.richmond.bbb.org/companyreport.html

in response to Mrs. Mankiewicz saying I should report Jiffy Lube, Jiffy Lube made an honest mistake and they rectified it once it was diagnosed. Bill Britt's service manager said they had diagnosed the problem, along with other problems, charged me at times 10 x what others charged, went out of their way to conceal they had not fixed the problem and despite the service manager's representation that they had found the problem, gave me a paper that said "could not find" the problem on it.

Jiffy Lube made a mistake, Bill Britt went out of their way to take me.

Congradulations . Stew - that's one of the reasons why I stand in front of my of the service bay and watch. I also replace my own air filter. Gracias
