Century 21, Champion Real Estate Complaint - Real Estate Company Complaint
JACKSONVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- November 17, 2001
To Whom It May Concern:
We have had a terrible experience with the companies described below as well as with your company. The following is a summary of such event:
• On October 1st, 2001 Household Finance, Inc. accepted an offer to buy the above listed property. It was requested closing to be done on or before October 19th, 2001. This request was due to the 30-day notice we had to give to our current Landlord.
• On the week of October 25th, 2001 (after the original requested closing date) we were notified by Katrina Loudermilk, Century 21 agent that closing was set for the 25th. On October 24th, we were notified that closing was cancelled.
• The reason for this cancellation was that the Seller’s Attorney discovered that the title of the property wasn’t clear. At this time we were not notified as to the nature of the problem with the title. We were told that there was no date for closing.
• Since we had already given 30-day notice to our current landlord we were on a bind because we had to vacate our current residence and the house was not available to move in. We had packed everything and now we had to find an alternate place for residence.
• We were told to wait 15 more days, since it was expected by the seller and their broker and attorney that the problem with the title would be resolved in that period of time. On November 13 we were informed that the problem with the title had been resolved. Katrina Laudermilk (Century 21 “Champion Real Estate” agent) called our residence at night to inform us that there was a set appointment with the lawyer to close on the property.
• On November 15, my husband called the attorney’s office to get directions to his office. He was then informed by the attorney that the paperwork had not been resolved yet (opposed to what we were told the night before)and that closing was postponed indefinetely once again.
• After arranging for all the utilities to be turned on the new property and made reservations for moving, we were on a bind once again, with no place to go.
• No apologies were ever offered from the Seller, neither his attorney nor his broker. No compensation was ever offered. Nor was an attempt to alleviate all our hardship caused by their lack of ethical conduct.
This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Since my husband was not the actual buyer. (He had power of attorney from the buyer to close the transaction), he is not able to pursue any further legal action against the Seller, his attorney and his broker.
However, we would like this unprofessional conduct to be known by the public. This is why we are presenting this complaint.
To help keep me as a potential future customer, I would like the following:
A written apology.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
