Am I the only one not satisfied with the Banks wanting to destroy our original cancelled checks vs. sending them back to us as they used to????? I pay good money for my checks(even the plain ones). What Banks send you instead is a copy of them on a sheet of paper. In some instances, I have had to write on my checks in RED to return my checks but I should not have to do this. Can someone tell me which banks in the New York City area that still return your checks with your statement? If so, please let me know.

I believe they will return your checks to you but it's going to cost you extra, I think most banks have now gone to this.

My credit union doesn't even give you copies of the canceled check you have to request a COPY which will cost you $5.00. Doesn't bother at all.

The Check 21 Act will be the end of all original cancelled checks in the not to distant future. ( )

YES, happen to me. Put a good fight tough. Won my canceled checks back for a long time. Than suddenly one day like they thought I fell asleep, I see nothing but thunbnail copies on the back of my statements. Proceeded to use the same tactics again but the house won this time. Yes you do pay for your checks and it is your property however they stopped seeing it that way because of the computer age. Go figure ~ ~ ~

I view my cancelled checks right online and it's an actual scanned copy of the front and back. I can print them as needed and always have them digitally up to 6 months. I find this WAY better than taking up storage space for checks I may never need. mentioned you paid good money for your checks...what does that have to do with wanting them back? Are they so expensive you are trying to reuse them as wallpaper? nah...just kidding.

copies of checks are as legal as original checks in court. But if you wish to have your original checks it is a right that you have and most likely you might have to pay a fee for that service . Believe me banks don't want to upset you by keeping your originals it's just cost effective to send copies
