Direct Merchants Bank N.A. Complaint - Beware of getting this credit card

Review by ksbeeper on 2006-06-27
WICHITA, KANSAS -- Just a warning to all if you are thinking about getting a credit card from Direct Merchants. They will increase your credit without telling you and if you are late they charge outragous charges!!!! I have been fighting them for the past three years and have had 15 phone calls a day, been threatened over the phone and treated like a criminal. Just beware!! I will be going to court to tell my side of this story with my attorney. Anyone else had this problem with these people?

That is common with credit card companies now.. If you are late with a pymt they can raise your rate > 25%, just for being late once. It is in the fine print. I just recieved revisions frm 3 of my credit card companies stating their new policies.. call your card and inquiry !!

The new credit card law has been in the news the past year.
You should've gotten complacent on your bills. The credit card co sent warnings. If you are late or don't make the minimum payment you will go to the higher interest rate. It's a hellacious inescapable (except by paying off the balance) fire. Whooooosh.

I believe (don't quote me) it's illegal to harrass you over the phone. It might be differant in your state. You must contact your phone company and tell them you are being harrassed and also go to your nearest Police station and make a complaint as well. This should put a stop to all the phone calls. If they want thier money bad enough, they'll mail you and probably explain how they're going to get it back. Going beyond mailing you is just out right harrassment!.

What? CC issuers change their terms and conditions to favor abusive and usurous interest rates? I'm so shocked to learn this. Then, when you overspend, they have the audacity to want their money. Put the attorney fees into payments. If they're illegally harassing you...file a police complaint with a (legal) recording or transcript of their abuse and threats. This is a free local service. Involve your phone company to verify the threats and abusive conduct. This is also free. Other than that...pay them, dump the card, and learn from this lesson.

I agree with you totally. I lost my job and had an unpaid balance of $700.00. This balance is now over $7,000.00. This is outrageous. They are nothing but legalized loan sharks.
