Extended Warranty on Refrigerator Means You Spend Hours on the Phone Trying to Get Resolution.

FORT WALTON BEACH, FLORIDA -- Beyond furious with the customer service received at extended service agreement department. We currently have no working refrigerator for over a week now because the third Frigidaire certified technician that was sent to our house (under contract with extended service agreement department) for a leak in our refrigerator, actually broke the refrigerator. He admits to "pulling a piece of ice off of the coil and letting out all of the Freon." Although he didn't tell us he did this. He just closed the fridge and left our house, saying that someone would call us.

It wasn't until we went to make breakfast for our kids the next day that we noticed the fridge was HOT inside and all the food had to be thrown away. We have been fighting with Electrolux for 3 weeks to get this repaired and one of their certified repair companies actually broke the refrigerator beyond repair. For the first 2 weeks, at least we had a fridge, it just leaked. Now we do not have a usable refrigerator at all and are living out of coolers.

Since there are no service technicians in our area that are able to perform the repair, as evidenced by 3 coming out and then informing Electrolux that they cannot perform repairs on a "sealed system," supervisor, Stacy (extension **) at Electrolux said that she was going to put in for a replacement for us. This was a week ago. She assured me that she would call me as soon as she received the fax from the technician that broke our refrigerator. I never received a call so I called her and after being on hold for over 20 minutes, I got a representative that took my name and number and assured me that Stacy would call me back.

She never did. I called again every day for 5 days and was on hold for over 20 minutes again and same result. Messages were taken but no calls were returned. Today I called and have been on hold for 53 minutes. Someone is trying to reach another supervisor for me to speak with since Stacy isn't interested in returning my calls. The representative that is currently trying to find me someone in charge to speak with, said that my refrigerator cannot be replaced because the technician that broke it claims that it CAN be fixed but that his company CANNOT perform the repair.

She also told me that Stacy never put in for the replacement so we've been sitting here with no refrigerator, expecting that a replacement has been ordered, but in reality, nothing has been done and nobody has informed us that Electrolux has done NOTHING. Bottom line, I have 2 toddlers at home and I have NO REFRIGERATOR FOR MILK OR FOOD AT ALL. I told the representative that if someone CAN fix it, I need it fixed immediately. If nobody can fix it (which seems to be what everyone says AFTER we wait a week for each new company to come look at it) then I would like it replaced IMMEDIATELY.

This is absolutely ludicrous that NOBODY will speak with me or correct the problem. I am FURIOUS. I have been on hold for over 1 hour and 9 minutes, as I type this message... still no resolution and I am not hopeful there will be one any time soon. After 1 hour and 17 minutes, the representative trying to find me a supervisor finally decided that she would process the replacement herself and that someone from their "back office" will be in touch with me in 7-10 business days to let me know what the next step will be. I will NEVER EVER, EVER purchase a Frigidaire or Electrolux appliance again and I will ALWAYS warn others against it by sharing my story.

Door Rusting Less Than 2 Years Old

I have a model FTR1817LW Frigidaire fridge. We have this at our cottage and noticed this May that there is paint bubbling that would appear from rust under it. We went out to the cottage for July long weekend and now the paint is flaking off. To add to the problem I broke the door handle.

I phoned Electrolux who owns Frigidaire and they said I only have 1-year warranty and it is expired. I asked the woman who I could barely understand what kind of poor quality workmanship this thing is made with when it rusts from the inside out? She told me she could give me a number for a repair place, but I feel it's not worth it, as the repair would be to replace the door and is probably worth half the cost of the fridge. I have read on this site and others about these fridges rusting and I am disappointed in Frigidaire's product and their customer service. I will never buy an Electrolux/Frigidaire product again.

BUYER BEWARE

BUYER BEWARE FRIGIDAIRE DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS: In May 2014 I purchases a Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator Model FGHC2331PH. In December 2017 I noticed rust on the back of the unit near the ice maker. When researched on line I found Frigidaire has known about this problem since 2015. The unit does not have sufficient insulation. There is a repair kit available however it can only be purchased and installed by a Frigidaire authorized repair person. I contacted Frigidaire customer service and exchanged e mails with Elizabeth G. Initially she requested pictures and additional information. She led me to believe Frigidaire would take care of the problem and I needed to provide dates I would be available so a technician could diagnose and repair the appliance. She later rescinded her offer and indicated my appliance is out if warranty and Frigidaire will not take care of this known problem. Frigidaire being aware of this problem should take care of it no questions asked. Bottom line do not purchase any Frigidaire appliances as they do not stand behind their products even when they know there is a problem.

Frigidaire Does Not Stand Behind Its Products

We purchased a Frigidaire refrigerator, 18 cu. Ft. capacity for $540.00 on September 17, 2019 from Lowes. They delivered it to our small retail store where it was to be used in our small kitchen to store food items. We were remodeling and did not actually start using for food storage until January 2020. It worked fine until February 7, 2020 when it stopped working and the food in it ruined. It would not get cold. I called Frigidaire and the customer service person looked everything up and said it was covered under the warranty and she scheduled a repair person to come out.

The repair person contacted me prior to coming and said he could not come into a business location. I called Frigidaire and the customer service person, Marcus, said the warranty was void because the refrigerator is in a business location. I explained that it was only in a small kitchen and had less use than if it was at my residence. He was very unhelpful and said it didn't matter. All they would do is schedule a repair person to come out and I would have to pay them to come out and I would have to pay for any repairs. I told him I could not believe Frigidaire would not stand behind their products and his response was that they were standing behind it by offering to schedule a repair person that I had to pay for.

I refused and hired a repair person to come look at the refrigerator since I was going to have to pay for it anyway. He determined that the compressor is bad and so it would cost more to fix it than the refrigerator is worth. I have purchased Frigidaire's in the past but I will not again. They do not stand behind their products. This refrigerator was barely even used and the compressor should not have gone bad in five months. It was obviously defective.

Leaking Ice Maker

LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY -- October 23, 2018. I bought the condo where the refrigerator is located on Feb 11, 2015. It was new construction, and the refrigerator was new - installed by the builder before I purchased property. I moved into the condo on Sept 6, 2015. Electrolux instructed me to use Universal Appliance for the repairs. I truly believe they did everything possible in their effort to stop the leak. Photos of the work orders are illegible, so I listed information below:

The first work order is dated 12/02/15. Comment: found TOP T/M not working. Must order. Note: purchase Ferguson 01/16/15. The second work order is dated 12/21/15. Comment: Replaced I/M and H20 valve. The third work order is dated 03/21/16. Comment: ice build up on fan due to seal. Ice box service bulletin. Installed I/M and seal kit. Turned I/M on Needs to reach temp to start. The fourth work order is dated 02/17/16. Comment: ice build up on fan due to seal. Ice box service bulletin.

The fifth work order is dated 10/24/17. Comment: Found unit needs pad and air haniker (?). Called TS. They are shipping both parts. Customer must thaw 24 hours before return. The sixth work order is dated 11/10/17. Comment: installed pad and air haniker (?). Per Frigidaire tech. Reset control. The seventh work order is dated 05/09/18. Comment: checked unit. Wasn't able to find where air could be getting into box. Gave customer file number and told her to call customer service.

One reason why there is so much time between service visits was because I do not live here 24/7. I have not been able to have ice, basically this whole time. The only way to stop the leak - and ruining the floor - was to empty and turn off ice maker. I have spoken to multiple people in multiple departments. All they do is read from their script. No one seemed to have any interest in helping me. The bottom line: I need to have the same part replaced 4 times in the same year in order for them to consider a new product. And since I had the icemaker replaced under the manufacturer warranty, that doesn't count, since it needs to all be under the same repair agreement. Really? So, I need to have the icemaker replaced 3 more times, allowing it to leak between every time!

Electrolux has now switched the a different repair company, I'm supposing, to achieve a different outcome? As of now, I have been instructed to turn the icemaker back on so that the repairman can see the leak! Yes, I need to ruin my floor further in hopes of having the refrigerator repaired. Evidently watermarks flowing down the front of the frig and warped flooring are not enough proof that the unit leaks! I am going crazy trying to deal with this. Any suggestions?

If You Want Your House Flooded Buy a Frigidaire Refrigerator.

JUPITER -- I own several properties. Have 2 Frigidaire “Gallery” Refrigerators. The one I am complaining about is model DGUS2645LF4 Serial Number 4941904444 is in my home. I was sitting in my home living room when it appeared from the noise in the kitchen that the dishwasher started on its own?? When I went into the kitchen to investigate, I found water pouring out of the refrigerator water spout onto my floor. Had I not been home, the rate of flow out of that spout would have flooded my entire house in a just a few hours.

I tried to click the level that releases water out of the spout and the water would stop for about 10 seconds, then restart pouring out again on its own. This behavior clearly indicated the circuit board in the refrigerator had failed to detect whether the level causing water to be dispensed was pushed or not.

I buy ice instead of using the poor quality refrigerator generated ice so the ice bin was empty. When I switched to ice cube mode, the ice dispenser also repeatedly made noise trying to dispense ice that was not in the bin. This setting change at least gave me time to pull out the refrigerator and cut off the water to stop it from flooding my house. After cutting off the water, I went back to the dispense water setting, so the ice cube dispensing noise would stop.

At that point there was no further noise or water (because I cut off the water). However, the light stayed on the dispensing unit on the front of the refrigerator and could not be turned off. Again all of these factors indicated the controlling circuit board had failed. So, if you want a refrigerator that floods your house when it fails, Frigidaire is a great choice. I have no idea what moron designed this board or how many Frigidaire models use this circuit board.

Don't Buy A Frigidaire. Worst Product Ever!

I will advertise this on my personal Facebook page as well as my business page (to call attention... - to practice of calling public attention to one's product). CAN I HAVE EVERYONE COPY AND PASTE THIS TO FRIGIDAIRE Facebook page - so Frigidaire thinks it's alright to take bad reviews down and delete the person who posted? We will make sure this review gets around cyber until something or someone calls this lady!

In August 2012 I bought a Frigidaire model # FPHN2899LF6 Serial# 4A22709539 paid $3000.00. Since that time it has failed 6+ times. I purchased an extended service (that is now expired). Had a service guy come out this weekend and was told there is a leak and it's internal. On top of it being internal it's a sealed unit and this has probably been the problem from the start. Refrigerator works fine for now until the rest of the Freon leaks out. Freezer is cold but not freezing. Called Frigidaire and explained to them what was going on and their response was "we stood by our agreement" (one year) and I was pretty much on my own...

After more complaining with them on the phone, agent Shawntel made an offer. She would give me 50% off on parts needed to fix the problem but I would have to pay for service. I thought this unacceptable as this is a sealed unit. I asked to speak to her supervisor. She put me on hold, came back and said her supervisor was busy and that she (Jennifer **) would call me back in 1 or 2 days. I asked if this was normal and she told me yes. (Wow) All I can say is DON'T BUY A FRIGIDAIRE. Go to a company that will stand by their product no matter what! Maytag here I come.

You see Mr. Shaw, I've done all I could do with making phone calls to Frigidaire. I even got a response from Melinda (on Facebook) asking me for all the invoices and that they would review them. She never gave me a fax number or an e-mail to send. I know you can pull my information from serial number. I would hope that you would have SOMEONE FROM YOUR OFFICE CALL ME SO THAT I CAN EXPLAIN WHAT'S BEEN GOING ON AND DO something about it!

Frigidaire 2-Year Old, $2,800.00 Refrigerator Dies

DEPTFORD, NEW JERSEY -- I always owned Frigidaire refrigerators so it came as no surprise when I remodeled my kitchen, I would purchase a modern Frigidaire to replace a perfectly good (albeit outdated) Frigidaire. The Model 253FGHF2378ME was a side by side refrigerator with a freezer at the bottom and an automatic water/ice/crushed ice dispenser on the front door. Within 2 years the crushed ice dispenser started to expel Styrofoam along with crushed ice, and shortly thereafter, a large chunk of plastic after which it no longer produced crushed ice at all.

Also within the same 2 years, the ice dispenser would just strain sometimes. One day after filling three glasses with cube ice, the refrigerator simply stopped and there was a code "SY-CF" flashing on the display at the front door. I looked that up and it stands for System Communications Failure. It seemed that the straining ice motor blew out the motherboard. So I called for service and here's the killer, NO ONE - and I mean NO ONE was available for several days. All the food in the refrigerator went bad and neither Frigidaire nor Sears puts any priority on a refrigerator failure.

That means that the 2-YEAR OLD, $2,800.00 refrigerator not only spoiled about $400.00 worth of food, but is going to cost a minimum of $400.00 to fix. Look, things break but not a $2,800.00 refrigerator after 2 years of service. And who is the engineer who forgot to put overload protection between a computer module and a high torque electric motor? I'm not some angry soul that will tell anyone not to ever buy a Frigidaire appliance, or to buy anything from Sears, that is up to you to decide. I sure won't though.

WISCONSIN -- Bought a Frigidaire fridge. It has been worked on 5 times in 6 months - will be 6 times soon 'cause it's still freezing food and a shelf is broken and the door was broken. And you don't get cold water - it's room temp. No fix for that except buy a different fridge because Frigidaire doesn't have cold water. That feature is discontented but they don't tell the dealers you're suppose to read the manual on the refrigerator before you buy it. Yeah and does the company care about anything in fridge like food - nope. So don't put food in it. It's apparently only a oversized ice maker disguised as a refrigerator.

Their response to us was buy an extended warranty. I asked what about all my food - it's froze. I got told not their problem. They don't care so we spent damn near 2000 dollars on a refrigerator that's a piece of crap that the company doesn't care. All they want is money. Well I'm not buying a extended warranty. I'm now using a 50-year-old refrigerator because I can't afford a different fridge.

LANCASTER, PENNSYLVANIA -- I purchased a refrigerator in 2016. It never worked right from the beginning. I had 7 different repairmen come and try to fix it but no one wanted to say it was unrepairable. I lost food because the freezer kept forming ice and the refrigerator part wouldn't stay cold. The repairman told me to use a blow dryer to get rid of the ice on the motor. I called Frigidaire and they wanted me to buy a extent warranty. They promised to send me certificates to replace my food but never did. So I contacted the Better Business Bureau to see what my next step is. The refrigerator is junk. Never buy any of their products.
