Brakes Plus Compliment - Honest Mechanics

Review by Manuel on 2006-06-30
ARVADA, COLORADO -- Toward the end of last year, I took my truck to a dealer for some warranty work. They asked if I wanted to have them perform a free vehicle inspection. I authorized it. After the warranty issue was fixed and I picked up my truck, I was told that I would be needing front brakes soon. Of course they had a "special". I declined and was told I had about 2k miles left before they would be completely worn.

Last week I took my truck to Brakes Plus in Arvada, CO to check it out and do the necessary work. Left the truck with them.

Later I got a call, letting me know that I did NOT need new front brakes, in fact they had plenty of life left. The mechanic said if I really wanted to be cautious, I could bring the truck back in another 10k miles to see how they were wearing. There was no charge.

I have taken vehicles to them before, and they have always been honest, friendly, and proud of doing the job right. It's great to know of an honest mechanic.

Places like this are too few and far apart. I trust the guys at the Elgin Toyota dealership (in Illinois). They've turned down numerous requests from me to do things I thought my truck needed, but they thought it could wait. Saved me lots of money. Plus when I get my bill, they often will automatically apply any discounts/coupons that I may not even be aware of.

Outstanding! End of the week and my faith in man is restored. There seem to be pockets of honesty here and there.
