Do Not Buy Here

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- First off, I did not have to go to buy here, but I liked the truck. Day after I bought the truck, I went to the warranty shop for repairs. I was treated as if I did not matter. Eight hours there for 2 hours of work, ended up going back 3 more times for total of 24 hrs lost time over 3 weeks before those issues were fixed. I still have a problem, but now they ran the clock out for the time I could get it fixed for free. I'll have to pay a $100.00 unless it's not covered then the cost will be on me.

Next, I provided a declaration or full coverage insurance when I bought the vehicle. Now given I did not catch, or understand that I had to have $500 or less deductible or they would slap me with a CPP insurance policy at $100 a month. They could not be bothered to make a simple phone call to a new customer when they receive the insurance declaration to inform me of the mistake to help the customer avoid extra cost, and even though I had full coverage, the waited till my first payment was due and had already put it on, for me to find out when making 1st payment.

I tried talking to both their insurance department, sales department, with the same smug attitude, treated like trash. The correct action was to call me during the first week so I could have it fixed and avoid the $100. But what I have gotten is, "I can't help you, if you don't pay we will disable your vehicle!" But you can believe they had no issue picking up the phone to threaten me, insisting I pay!!! And they waited till closing time on a Friday to call, so I would be unable to go in to talk to someone, I was told I could speak to someone Saturday so after a sleepless night I did go in, just to be told there was no one to speak to, so lied to again.

So to avoid my vehicle being disabled I paid. Now, 1) they are charging twice the value for the vehicles, 2) taking advantage of folks that have weaker credit and charging loan shark interest so getting double there too. I have not had 1 full day of being able to enjoy my vehicle, since day 2 of buying it it's been downhill. As I told my salesman your company sure knows how to wipe the smile and happy feeling right out of the customer!!! I would not recommend this company to anyone. As soon as you sign the contract, you become dirt to them and everyone I have had contact with outside of my salesman, has a very poor and rude and unhelpful attitude.

They all should have to take classes to learn how to treat, help and retain customers. I have thought long and hard about this and have decided, the sooner I separate myself from this company, the better I will be. I have no doubt I can go elsewhere and get another vehicle and they can have theirs back, given they only understand money, maybe if it happens enough, and enough stop dealing with them, maybe the owners will wake up and do something. I'm sure they are losing a lot of return business for these reasons.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- In September 2013, I had a car repossessed due to bad choices on my part. Knowing full and well I couldn't finance another car through a reputable source, I went to ECA and purchased a 2007 Toyota Yaris for $9,996.00. My payment was $300.00 a month ($149.00/biweekly), and I was told that the reason the car was so high in price was due to the warranty.

After having my car for less than 30 days, the blower in the AC/heat went out. The warranty department fixed it for free, but dealing with the warranty department was a huge pain. You have to drop off your vehicle and be without a car for at least a day, which is terrible if you only have one car in the family. I had belt problems that always squealed when the weather was cool or moist, and I took it to ECA Warranty three separate times to have it fixed. I also had a mechanism in the fuel system leave me stranded on the side of the road once, and had to pay the $100.00 deductible to have it fixed through their warranty.

They put a GPS tracker in the vehicle, along with a kill switch. I was dedicated to never being behind on my car payments, so they were always withdrawn the same day I got paid so the money would always be there. One day, I stepped out of work to go to lunch and my car was dead. Originally I thought it was the battery, but I called ECA anyway to see if it had been shut off on their end. When I talked to her, I asked if, for some reason, my last payment hadn't gone through (even though it showed up on my bank statement) and she said, "Yeah, but we just had a glitch so it shut down your car."

I asked why I hadn't been notified earlier about the glitch, and she said, "Well, you know now." So basically, even though I'd made every payment and never been at all late, my car was deactivated. I called back later and asked to speak to the manager, and I was rebuffed and told that I had no reason to complain because my car was back on.

I talked to my bank and they agreed to refinance my auto loan at a much lower rate (I went from 23% to 8.49, which is wonderful for someone with a discharged Ch. 7). I called and asked for a payout, which was faxed to me. I was sick that week, so I never made it to the bank and another car payment went through. The next week, I called again requesting an updated 10 day payout. He started to verbally tell me the payout, and when I asked for a written payout, he rudely refused. I said, "I have a payout that was faxed to me two weeks ago, I don't understand why I can't get an updated payout," and he said, "Whoever sent you that shouldn't have, I can't send you another one."

I asked how I was supposed to give my bank the information when they needed it in written form, and he said, "Uh, you just use the old one?" in a very condescending manner. I told him the old one was no longer accurate in terms of my balance, and he said that wasn't his problem. So I got frustrated and hung up. He called me back shortly and told me that even though it wasn't his problem, he would email me my payout "just this once". Finally, I got the stupid thing in writing.

Today, I called their finance office to see about dropping off the check for the full amount. They told me to drop it off at the branch from which I bought the car. My loan manager at my bank then did so at 11:30 a.m. I called ECA at 1:00 p.m. to make sure the check had been received, and was told that the check was supposed to be dropped off at their headquarters, which is across town.

No one told me this information before that phone call. I have a car payment scheduled to be auto withdrawn this Saturday, and I was told it would take 3 days to cancel the auto withdrawal feature. I asked them if I would receive a refund for the $149.00, since that payment would technically be an overpayment once the bank's check is processed, and she said, "Maybe."

Overall, I knew what I was getting into when buying a car from them. They Target a very shady demographic of people that are bad with money, so it makes sense to overcharge so they aren't losing money. That being said, I had a naive thought that they would treat me with respect because I pay my bill on time, I keep insurance on my car, and I give them no issues. Never have I been late on a payment, never have I let my insurance lapse, and never have I done anything to warrant being treated with a lack of respect.

Despite all of this, I still got to experience having my car deactivated due to a "glitch". Imagine trying your hardest to pay all your bills on time and be a perfect consumer and being punished by your car not turning on. I was at work, my car wouldn't start, and I was horrified people would think it was because I was irresponsible. There is no reason for ECA to have such terrible customer service. There is no reason why people that are following the rules should be made to feel so small and humiliated.

If you are in the terrible position of buying a car from them, hear me now: finance with them, then try your hardest to get the loan refinanced somewhere else. They will treat you like crap once they realize you won't be giving them that 18-23% anymore, but you will be free.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- November 29 2016 my husband and I were there after shopping online and going by their many ads on TV and radio about low low payments..........Low my foot we found out...........Due to our having an open car loan in both names with our other vehicle we had to apply as signer and co-signer understand and did that..........I had advised from the get go I only had $300 to pay down and Commercials still advertise down payments as low as $200 on a go cart maybe we ended up scraping up $1000 due to them saying they had nothing below that.
I couldn't get what I really wanted and the salesman pulled up a 2007 Nissan Maxima SL my husband didn't really like it from the beginning but we drove it anyway and did the deal......
1st out of town we took in it to see how it would do found out the A/C blew hot and oil was showing up on the driveway this is after a reassurance it had going through a checkpoint system from the salesman and thru paperwork.
They replaced the A/C condenser and the oil cooler to fix that leak......CD player never worked but we played that off as a used car and let that go...........
Got a call from school on one of our kids and had to pick up the baby sitter and the kid and noticed on the freeway my RPM as up to 4000 hit the gear shift to manual and it would go up from 3rd gear to the 4th 5th and 6th gear.........Dropped off kid and sitter and went to Express Credit Service Center and 1st Lie from the Salesman, we were told when we bought it drop off the car for service they give you a loaner.........Wrong Service writer says no they have to look at it diagnose it and if more than 3 days then you get a loaner, now granted it may be 1 to no matter how many days before they look at it and then you might get a car, usually a dirty smelly one with over 150,000 miles plus on it so right off the bat to the car wash and spray the inside to get the smells out...........Turns out transmission was out, they did replace that. Next the right axle went out, supposedly fixed that and couple weeks later vibrated and made a noise. Turns out the go to LKQ and get used parts to repair your car so they band aid to get you by till they fix it...........Next issue was when the weather in the morning was freezing or below the car would run fine then all of a sudden just stop like it got thrown into neutral won't rev won't go over 20 to 30 miles an hour. I had a 10 mile trip every morning to get our 4 to 6 year olds to school using Hwy 11 your doing 70 mph one second then it is like gas was cut off down to 30 no matter if an 80,000 lb truck is behind or smaller cars...........they basically had the car every month for over a year before I did an online complaint on their website.............we were down there dropping if off once again with the useless Service writers who have no experience at all dealing with issues........OH forgot the right front axle went out and had to be replaced due to the used one they put in went out.........Timothy went in and spoke with the Managers of the dealership and was told not much they could do. Another manager over that one over heard and pulled him into another room and pulled up the history......1st the car was never put thru the check list they have was pulled by the salesman from the back where cars were waiting to be checked..........2nd Found out they put a used transmission from LKQ again and that one didn't work, had to order one from Nissan that one failed, so they ordered another one so 4 transmissions counting the original one..........they replaced air flow sensors, 2 motor mounts, and finally have we both had a fit took them 6 weeks to find out the ABS sensors was out then had the nerve when I signed off on it to pick it up they were doing me a favor and not charging me for this last service? Rubbing Salt in the Wound is what I felt. I will never buy anything from them ever again........Granted from the day I bought the car till present Jan 2019 I have lived up to my agreement every payment has been on time due to auto pay and the car has never not been insured........I am stuck with this car for another year and 4 months and pray that the thing makes it that long to trade it off........I've considered making a banner for the sides saying don't by from Express Credit Auto you will be bait and switched.....

Will Never Buy a Car Here Again

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, OKLAHOMA -- In 2013, I came to Express Credit Auto looking for my first car. With my low credit, I was given the choice of 2 vehicles, both were old, used up and way overpriced for what they were really worth. When I drove off the lot nothing major appeared to be wrong with the van, the center table in the back seat was missing, black stains in the back seat, a DVD player/TV that only worked occasionally, and not sure why, but many feathers scattered across the inside.

In the 3 years I drove this car, the alternator had to be replaced, the transmission went out, and the engine had to be replaced with a used one because that's all the warranty would cover and the warranty company gave me static about all these things and made me jump through hoops to make them happen. The automatic doors in the back seat eventually stopped opening, forcing my husband and I to reach into the back seat from the front seat to get our baby out of the back or go through the back and climb over the other back seat.

Shortly after the doors stopped working, we were told the radiator had a leak and was dangerous to the people in the car. It was a deathtrap and not eligible for anymore repairs it so badly needed, and I hadn't even paid it off yet. Knowing I had used up the warranty, I paid what I owed to be able to trade the vehicle in for something that was drivable. I was told by the company that the car was in such poor shape when I traded it in that they would be scrapping it, but I'm sure they did the bare minimum of what they needed to put it back on the lot to sell.

I was again given the choice between 2 of the exact same vehicle, one just had more miles on it. I took the one with the least on it, and drove off the lot with no problems, the day after buying it, I took it into the warranty department to have several different repairs to it and some I was told weren't covered by warranty, so I'd have to pay out of pocket for those. 5 years later after signing my first contract, I just paid off my vehicle worth $1600 for a hellish price of $13,000.

My real issue was paying off the vehicle. I called to let the finance department, Auto Advantage Finance know that I needed to fill out a cancellation form for my automatic payments because I'd be paying off the vehicle soon. They made me jump through hoops for a week before giving me the information I needed to find out the balance left on the car myself. The balance left was $4700. They said I didn't owe the $28 collateral protection on date of payoff.

My usual bi-weekly payments were $177-$149 for the car payment and $28 for the collateral protection insurance. I paid off the balance on the car, was congratulated and told I owed nothing else on the vehicle, after demanding a receipt they tried to get away with not giving to me.

2 days after payoff, a payment of $177 was taken from the finance company out of my bank account, overdrawing it. I didn't authorize the payment. When I called to ask why it happened, I was told the cancellation form they sent me was the wrong form for a one-time cancellation instead of full-time.

I filled out the forms a second time and asked when they'd be refunding my money, they said they couldn't and to take it up with my bank where I have already filed a claim against this company. I made multiple phone calls to try to have this resolved. My mother also made many phone calls and was told by an employee that she couldn't have the supervisor's name.

5 days after payoff, I finally got the supervisor on the phone, he had to verify that I had paid off my car and said $138.40 would be returned to me by mail in 10 business days, but that the full amount would not be refunded. I told him I had paid off the car 5 days prior and the full amount should be refunded because I have a zero balance on my account. He said they were keeping $28 for collateral protection insurance on my car that they no longer own and the rest was being kept for the interest that had built up in between the day I got a receipt for paying it off and the day they got around to processing my check.

They are continuing to charge me interest on a car that is now mine. Even after filling out 2 cancellation forms, I am still worried that next week, they are going to take another payment and I'm not sure if this money will ever be refunded to me. This company takes advantage of broke people with poor credit that have nowhere else to go. Anywhere is better than here. I have written multiple reviews online and a letter to the Better Business Bureau and still don't feel it is enough to prevent this from happening to someone else. Run away from this company and tell everyone you know the same.

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA -- I had specific needs that needed to be met when looking for a vehicle. Before I even decided to be a customer here again, I had my friend drive me all around the car lot to see if there were any vehicles I didn't want, because knowing from past experience, they'd put me in the worst vehicle on the lot regardless of my down payment. I didn't see any vehicles that looked messed up so I went ahead and got out and went inside.

After giving all of my info I was met outside by a 2006 vehicle that had rust and scratches all over it, the interior was stained and torn up, there wasn't any windshield wipers. I was going to be using my vehicle for work and to give clients rides in, I explained that I needed a vehicle that was at least a 2008 or newer due to my job requirements. The salesman stated he may have another vehicle I could look at, but it'd have to be approved by the manager.

He met me with yet another vehicle that I swear was nowhere to be found upon prior inspection of the car lot. This vehicle smelled like someone had passed away in it and wasn't discovered until weeks later. The smell was so horrible, I could tell they cleaned and shampooed the interior, but the smell... the seats were also full of cigarette burn holes and stains, door handle on the passenger side was barely hanging on and I thought I had seen every car on the lot except for these 2 and the salesman said he "may be able to get me approved" for the stinky car, but other than that those were my 2 options from their lot.

I immediately dialed my friend and told her to hurry and come pick me up. The salesman quickly acted and ran across the lot and brought up a "decent" looking car with black leather interior. The driver's seat was ripped in the seat, but other than that it was decent. I've had issue after issue on keeping this high mileage vehicle in working order. I found out that the car was only worth $3300 if it were in mint /good condition... it was in poor condition at best and I'm being financed for $11,000 for this vehicle.

After making payments on it for well over a year, I called and asked about trading it in for a newer nicer vehicle, one big enough for my husband to use for work and to fit my family and our lifestyle. The man later sent me a text that read, "Ok you can trade it in in 2 more months." Two months pass by and I call again, I was again sent a text that read, "You're real close, but it'll be just a couple more months."

After 2 months I call again and he tells me he had to speak with the manager and would call me back. Never got a callback, so I called after 4 hours later. The man tells me I need to pay $2300 more, which equals another 12 months! The car will be paid for by then. I'm definitely not purchasing another vehicle through this place ever again!!

Update 12/23/2017:

Correction...the $2300 more on the payment was paid in 6 months, not 12.

Update: I have now been paying on this vehicle religiously for over 25 months. My children have outgrown the backseat of the mid-sized car this car lot placed me in. A few weeks ago while I was going in to make a payment I was greeted by a salesman at the payment kiosk. He asked if I'm ready to trade in...I agreed...they now want me to pay another down payment in the amount of $400 before I'm able to trade in for another 2007 vehicle that's worth less than the car I'm already paying on...start over on payments with a 2007?? Are you kidding me?

BEST CAR-BUYING EXPERIENCE

MIDWEST CITY, OKLAHOMA -- When I first contacted ECA, I was skeptical as I have had many bad car-buying experiences. This one, however, had made a VERY lasting effect. Kellie was our salesperson and, although VERY new to the job and the car salesperson industry, I wouldn't have chosen anybody else at the Midwest City, OK ECA location to help my fiancée and I choose a vehicle to buy.

She was VERY helpful. She made all the right pushes to get the financing for us, made sure we liked the vehicles we qualified for (as first time buyers our options were limited), asked us if we'd prefer a car from a different ECA lot (which we did not), and was thorough in the loan signing paperwork and explanation of what was in the paperwork. Overall, we spent 10 hours with Kellie, and even called her personal cell phone at 7am the day we were ready to trade in our hunk of junk car (10/16/2015) and told her we would be coming back in to finish paperwork and leave with a car.

My fiancée and I were highly impressed with her customer service skills and her honesty, which are both hard to find in the car sales industry. The manager of this ECA location, Matt, was also VERY helpful and VERY patient with us and with his new employee (our salesperson), Kellie. He made sure he got us financed and in a car. Before test driving the 2006 Dodge Caravan we took home that day, the gas light came on upon starting it and Kellie and the lot porter immediately jumped to action to make sure it was, in fact, OUT OF GAS (Which it was ONLY out of gas!).

The lot porter put gas enough (OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET MONEY!) in the vehicle for our test drive and we were very impressed with this young man. Before we drove off the lot, the lot porter put air in the tires, checked and topped off all the fluids, and vacuumed the carpets. To put the icing on the cake, Kellie gave my fiancée and I a crisp $20 bill for gas (OUT OF HER OWN POCKET MONEY!!) due to the gas station across the street not accepting debit cards. If I could rate this experience 5 million stars, I WOULD!

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- I financed through Express credit auto of last year as a first-time buyer with my mom. we needed another car at the time and 500 down was n problem due to working in the oil field.

Ok, time to point out all the flaws of this place because they F**ked me over. so I'll do the same to them.
1. after I test drove the car it checked out at first, I wasn't expecting (broken glass in the car on the floor and side panels that I got cut on because I did not even think the car would have broken glass in it? oh right because the next day, I took it up there and asked for a refund I was told it was BROKEN INTO ON THE LOT. OK THEN FIX IT?
I confronted that sales representative about it and he said " I don't know what you mean " even when I showed him it.
2. Don't think you can refinance here, it's not an option that 277 bi-weekly car note you have you are stuck with till paid off.
3. the 5 dollar fee for paying online/over the phone why is this even a thing? to pay the company who processes this?
4. Warranty will bribe you, asking if you post a 5-star review telling how amazing they are you won't have to pay the remaining debt you own for the maintenance bill.
5. It seems every time I take my car in to get fixed like I don't know maybe like my ac and a few other things last visit. well, we never used the ac and now we are trying to use the ac and it doesn't even work... Lol, where did the 400 o wait the 5-star review, so where did the 225$ dollars go??? oh right, warranty asked me, my mother, to give them a 5-star review and they would let us go without paying the rest.

what else.. hmm..
Oh, I bought my car MSRP at either 19-20k when in reality a 2020 Chrysler 300 used is only 18k why are you ramping up car prices that make no sense?

Oh, I'm leaving this review up as a 5 star for warranties part because they LOVE THEM 5 STARS:)
Btw if you're mechanics are getting paid 18-20 an hour, they need to actually do there job.
Don't deny the pay I asked.

TULSA, OKLAHOMA -- Advertise $199 down. Yeah right. $500. Ok dealt with that. They pulled up a 2007 Nissan Maxima SL loaded with everything. The only positive is my dates I get paid change. They were real quick to work with me on that to be sure they got their money. Drove it. Seemed to be fine. Oh it has a warranty so don't worry. Yeah right. Very very limited warranty. 1st trip we took no A/C and oil leak on the driveway. New A/C condenser/Oil Cooler and Oil something else, $100 deductible to me. Winter hits and cold it is a bucking bronco, took it in. They said nothing found... fine kept driving it.

Few months later on the highway rpm's was at 4000. Took it in and lo and behold transmission out... Oh wait for them to look at the car and decide it is at least 2 days to get a loaner. According to the salesman you got a loaner as soon as it goes in... wrong answer. New transmission and it vibrates really bad a month later. Turns out the used Axle they put in went bad (yes used LKQ does daily deliveries to them) another deception they don't bother to tell you about.

I'm just trying and hoping it last long enough to pay it off and go somewhere else to trade it in. Now the outer tie rod link is going out. One more thing to fix they don't cover under their very very limited warranty. DVD player has never worked. Service Manager just said last time I took it in I had put over 9000 miles on it. Oh really? The previous vehicle I had put over 70000 miles on it and never did anything but the usual change oil and filters. The thing is a piece of junk and a money pit and hope I can get through 2 more years with it. Whoopee.

Update 11/14/2017:

they never responded

OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA -- This is the worst company I ever felt with. They give you no customer service, you get a runaround, no one knows anything. They shut off your car every time they screw up and when you have to fix what they screw up you have to wait to get your car turned on after they turn it off for not doing their job right. You have to pay for ONSTAR that they have on all their cars. They add it to your car payments but you cannot use the service if you need it.

It's a service they make you pay so they can turn your car off for stupid reasons and make you pay $66.00 to them for a service you are paying for, for them to turn your car back on after mistakes they create. You have no choice, you pay them or you lose your car. They have no one available to solve problems just untrained customer service people who haven't a clue.

NORMAN, OKLAHOMA -- Well from the other reviews I read on here it sounds like I dodged a bullet. I was checking out the inventory online and I found a red Mustang in Midwest City that I liked. So I asked for a quote. Someone from Norman contacted me about a blue Mustang with lower miles and I was ok with that. It sounded like a better deal. I filled out the application online and a guy from their financing department called me to verify some things.

Not long after that the guy from Norman calls me to tell me that I'm approved. I told him that I only had $100 to put down and he said he could work with that. (By the way, Norman is way out of my way and I had to find a ride down there because I don't have a car.) So I get to Norman and I had to fill out the application again because the guy didn't have it and suddenly, because I haven't been at my job very long I have to put down a $500 down payment and it can't be on the blue Mustang. When I confronted him about what he told me on the phone he was like "oh no I wouldn't have said that". I got up and said "forget about it" and walked out. Don't waste your time with these people.
