Nextel Complaint - NextHell - contracts, worsening DC and billing
STUART, FLORIDA -- I have been a Nextel customer since 2002. I just saw where Cingular landed in a lawsuit and felt Nextel users should be next. Since the take over by Sprint, the direct connect has gone downhill and almost to the point of useless (garbled). The dropped calls are increasing at an alarming rate to where almost all calls get dropped and calls to customer service are getting defensive. They keep changing your "plan" and leave you in a never ending contract agreement. After calling them 2 months ago about an idle phone I wanted to drop, they told me I could change it in August and avoid the $200.00 fee. Today was a much different story. It now will cost $200.00 to remove the idle phone which on idle still costed $10.00 a month. When my old 550 got wet and shorted out, I got a new I710. Guess what!! You now have another contract!!! A phone that started out at $33.00 a month has gone to $80.00 a month. DC used to be free, now charged by the minute. Their plans are like coming out of a blender at full speed, confusing everyone and costing more each day. We hear Verizon is now offering DC and a lot of people I talk to are getting ready to dump Nextel because of the same baloney. The service has indeed gone bad and I feel like I'm in the same boat as the ATT subscribers who's service was degraded and were compelled to sign new contracts with Cingular and were nickled and dimed to death. These mergers are a high tech farse and I would be glad to be a part of a class action suit when Nextel gets caught with their pants down. My next letter is to the Florida Attorney General after this. For the money we pay, no calls should be dropped and DC should be loud and clear as it was a few years ago. Enough is enough!!!
