Adelphia Cable California Informative - Hook-up Rip-off
OAK PARK -- In brief, I moved back to California and signed up for Adelphia Cable. Installers came out. I owned one TV. I said I want cable in the livingroom and the bedroom. They said fine. They tested the TV in the bedroom and left me a long length of cable so I could use the same (one) TV in the livingroom wherever I wanted to use it.
Yesterday I moved the TV to the livingroom and the male/female plugs necessary to power the cable were not available.
I called Adelphia and was told by a woman who said she was a supervisor that if you have one TV the installers will give you power at the location of that TV. If you have two TV's you will get power at both locations.
I told the supervisor I had one TV I was moving from room to room. She said that this doesn't matter and it is "company policy" not to activate a second room unless there is a second TV.
I repeatedly told the supervisor that I explained I would be moving my TV around and that I was given a length of cable to do it.
She was unmoved and said if I wanted a second room hooked up...I would have to pay THIRTY DOLLARS to have her installers come out again.
This is criminal. #1, nothing in my contract with Adelphia speaks to having a second, or third, or fourth TV present to hook up another room. #2, I discussed this with the installers and the supervisor told me that it was my word against theirs. #3, the installers left me this extra cable which should have indicated to the supervisor I was telling the truth...but she just said, there is nothing we can do. It will be $29.99 for us to come out again.
This is because I didn't have a TV set sitting in the livingroom.
Did the installers tell me this. No! Did the supervisor care about that. No!
I think this is outrageous. What do you think?
I have both cable TV and DSL with Adelphia. You'd think I'd be treated better.
