Very Poor Processing And Low Quality - Lots Of Nasty Wastes Added To Make Weight

SPRINGDALE, ARKANSAS -- We purchased this disgusting product from our local Hy-Vee grocery store. The bag print hid the surprise. We open and divide this size of product to repackage portions for the freezer. This bag contained too much nasty junk such as chicken backs and one had the entire ribs attached, the so-called quarters had the saddles/bones/fat, blood clots, internal organs - glands - even a few testicles, and lots of feathers still attached. Oh yes - plus some broken bones too.

My wife grew up on a farm and had the courage to reprocess and salvage what she could. I work for a food processor, (Kelloggs USA) and I simply could not believe the Inspected by USDA on the package happened, not this day, impossible! I decided to write this hoping someone cares about their job and the future of Tyson Foods business. We did not think of taking pictures or driving the 50 miles back to town to return this crap to the store it came from. But after deciding to waste my time writing this down I took the pieces put into our refrigerator for tomorrow's dinner out, and took a few pictures. This is of course after the cleaning up of the filthy mess...

I will use a knife to further trim the quarters into just that, and remove the remaining feathers on the lower portion of the leg that my wife could not pluck out. I think that I also need to contact the grocer just to warn them of what we found out here. I did write down the bar code on the package but there is no contact information provided, phone number, web address, etc. Any wonder why?

CHESTERTON, INDIANA -- This was the Best buy I've had in years. I am 65 years old. I've been waiting for some decent chicken quarters. There was approximately eight of them in the bag and they were all humongous. I'm very happy the price was good and I will be back and I thank you all

RIO RANCHO, NEW MEXICO -- Have purchased Gold Leaf chicken leg quarters many times. Yes always has had a lot of fat and splintered bones. The purchase on Aug 30, 2021 contained mostly bone as it contained two full bone backs which with all the fat of the back left only four leg quarters so my purchase was worth far less than leg quarters would be valued. Not much edible meat in package.

Gold Leaf Leg Quarters Made by Tyson Get More Expensive but Lower Quality

This product has gone up in price to almost what I pay for a turkey now another dollar up in the last month. The quality; however, keeps going down. I keep finding more and more broken bones, legs with so little meat on them it's pretty much just skin and bones and they are now throwing in BACKS, full lower backs to make up weight.

A back has no meat on it and the bones are so small, you can't even give it to a dog so it's just wasted meat unless you plan on making soup. It certainly is NEITHER a leg or a thigh. With the big chunks of fat they leave attached to the legs, I feel like I"m getting 5 pounds instead of 10. I'm fed up with having to pay more and more for lower quality product. SHAME on Tyson!

A Surprise in the Chicken

SPRINGFIELD, ARKANSAS -- My husband and I had bought two bags of the leg quarters. We have bought this product before and normally wash the chicken since we have found it to feeling slimy and not the best tasting. But we found something very disgusting!!! There was a slimy, greasy, filthy, glove that the workers wear at the processing plant in the top of the bag. This is food contamination!!! I was already sick from something that I had eaten the day before, so this made me even more disgusted!!! We put the bag (and glove) in the freezer to keep as evidence to show the lawyer that we are going to hire.

Splintered Bones

SPRINGDALE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- Bought yesterday Fri.Feb 1st 2019 from Winn Dixie (Orange Grove) Gulfport, Ms. This chicken was so mutilated and full of crushed and broken bones. Not to mention there was only 2 "full" leg and thigh quarters and they were pitiful. It has been a while since I have purchased leg quarters (different brands) but I have never seen any like this! I had to spend twice as much time picking all the slivers of bone out and still had some in my chicken and rice. This company and its employees obviously do not take any pride in their product or work ethic. And reading the other reviews it looks like they have a lot of issues that are just lawsuits in the making.

10 Lbs Golf Leaf Chicken In A Bag Is More Like 5 Lbs Of Chicken And 5 Lbs Of Fat And Skin
By -

NORTH LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA -- I decided to write this review today about this 10lbs bag of chicken from Gold leaf because I feel that I have been getting ripped off and I am sick of it!!! Today I decided to take the fat and skin off of the chicken quarters as I realized that it was producing way to much fat when slow cooking in my crockpot last year. To my disbelief, when all was said and done I pulled out 5 lbs of fat and skin.

Broward Meats on the corner of McNab and SW 81st Ave in North Lauderdale sells this bag for $5.99 per bag (so let's just say $6.00 per bag). So what you are "REALLY" GETTING AFTER you buy this 10lbs bag of chicken is 5lbs of fat and skin and approx 1 of bones. So if you add this all up for actual value its a total RIP OFF!!!!! You are actually paying DOUBLE WHAT THEY ARE DECEIVING YOU INTO BELIEVING you are paying. So you are paying $1.20 per lbs for a bag of inferior chicken quarters!!!!

As we all know the meat and poultry at this shop is from countries like Mexico and third world countries where the meat is sub-standard to begin with. Why I decided to buy there was based on a recommendation that pricing was good and meat product equally great. I have to say that is so FAR FROM THE TRUTH. So far my experience is that the meat and chicken has a substandard taste and who knows what kind of chemicals growth hormones, antibiotics etc are truly in this crap.

As they say you "get what you pay for" right!!! And many are willing to "die" for it!! This store seems to attract a very large minority group, many of which are on fixed incomes or being provided for by the government "EBT" system. 95% of the people who cater this store are of Haitians, Jamaicans and Caribbean and Africans decent. No one seems to complain??? Why??? Are we supposed to be grateful??? Is it okay to be deceived as long as the price is right??

CALIFORNIA -- I cannot believe that my grocer sells this stuff to the public! I purchased a 10lb bag from Save Mart and this bag contained more fat and broken legs. Really, does this company beat the chicken first? The chicken legs and thighs are oversize so this tells me that they are being injected with some kind of poison as well. Never again Gold Leaf. You are NASTY.

Mutilated/Bruised Legs

FLORIDA -- I have bought this several times. Opened bag this morning, legs and thighs bruised (I feel this happened when chickens were alive), some pieces had only leg portion (no thigh) and leg bones broken in half. In 40 years I have never seen such poorly processed chicken. Also most were very small.

SEBRING, FLORIDA -- It says it is chicken quarters, but it is chicken and back bone, there is no meat on the thighs at all. I found one thigh with a little bit of meat out of the whole bag. Should read chicken legs with extra bones for weight.
