AT&T Long Distance USA Complaint - Poor customer service
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- In June of this year I called AT&T customer service to have my phone line disconnected because I was moving. I had two lines with AT&T and both consisted of local, local toll, and long distance service. AT&T failed to disconnect my secondary phone number. I called to let them know of their error, and the customer service representatives assured me there was no problem. During the following 5 months, I received monthly statements continuing to bill me for a phone line I no longer had. Each month I called to remind them of my situation and the customer service representatives told me not to worry. This month my long distance service was cut off at my new address because AT&T claimed I never paid my bill from my previous address. The bill in question was that which continued to accrue at my old address while I was already at my new address. I once again called AT&T to let them know of their blunder and that I was displeased with having my long distance service cut off during the holiday season. As soon as I mentioned that I might consider switching long distance providers if the situation was not rectified, the customer service representative immediately hung up on me. I have been a loyal AT&T customer for many years now, but I can no longer say that this organization is first rate. The customer service department is full of rude and inefficient employees. I had no choice but to switch my long distance carrier since they would not help correct the error they made.
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
