Delta Airlines Complaint - Airline service
ARKANSAS -- My husband and I were recently on vacation. We flew from BWI to Tuscon, AZ via another airline and attempted to return via Delta. I say we attempted because we NEVER did return to BWI on a Delta aircraft.
We attempted to leave Tucson on Wednesday, 6-18-06 through Atlanta to Baltimore. Upon arriving at the airport we were informed the flight to Atlanta was delayed 2 hours. Of course, our connecting flight was to leave Atlanta an hour after we arrived, so we would definitely miss that flight. They had no other flights out that afternoon, even on another airline. Nor did they have any flights, not already booked full, for the next day. Since we have family near Tucson, we elected to stay with them until Saturay rather than get stuck in Atlanta.
On Saturdy, we arrived at the airport in due time for all you go through in flying today. The plane we were to fly on had a security issue of some type (we were never told what type) and was 25 minutes late boarding. Then we got on the plane and up to maybe 2000 ft. when we turned around, being told at first, there was something wrong with the nose indicator and they wanted to check it out before we continued. After that, we were informed there were apparently more issued w/plan maintenance, so after being scared because we were landing to fire engines, police cars, etc, coming our way, we were kept on the plane for maybe 1/2 an hour while they decided if we were going back up or not. Let me tell you, by that time, I wasn't going anywhere with them. We were finally permitted to leave the plane and made arrangements to leave on another airline the next day. Delta sent us to a Best Western about 3 minutes from the airport, but they were doing reconstruction and didn't even have anywhere to eat in the hotel. We finally got all our luggage to the room supplied and took a cab to another hotel to eat.
I lost 3 days work, Thursday,Friday and Saturday. They gave us a breakfast coupon and a dinner coupon. The breakfast coupon we couldn't use because the plane we were leaving on that day left at 5:15 a.m. and nothing was open. The dinner coupon was for $14.00 between the two of us. As you know, in a hotel dining room near the airport, the dinner costs way more than $14.00 a couple.
There had been a young Army person on the flight with us. He was on a four day pass and was trying to get to Atlanta, so we bought him dinner as well. Military flying standby don't receive the $14.00 perks we received. We were happy to do our part there since no one else seemed to care about him. They did not pay for his room either.
As if that was not enough, the next morning as we were going through security at the airport, we found we had been selected (people from our flight that didn't leave the day prior) to be frisked, etc. as though we were ceiminals of some sort. They checked everything, including the bottoms of our bare feet.
What a wonderful experience has now been added to our vacation.
1. NEVER ATTEMPT TO FLY DELTA
2. TRY TO AVOID TUCSON AIRPORT
We also did not come back through Atlanta; we came through Dallas instead.
**I feel Delta owes us more than we have received, along with others on the flight 7-1-06, to Atlanta.**
