University Park Hotel @ MIT Complaint - Beware of Rates at University Park Hotel @ MIT

Review by Nick133 on 2006-07-10
CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS -- Beware of rates at University Park Hotel @ MIT.

After my wife was in a roll-over autombile accident she was in intensive care.

When I called 9 days in advance to cancel her
reservation, I was informed that the reservation
could not be cancelled and that the credit card
had already been charged.

Apparently the University Park Hotel at MIT does
not allow cancellation. This was not their lowest
rate. The reservation was made over the phone
directly with the hotel.

Let the buyer beware.

Doesn't add up - I checked their site and unless you paid upfront - even their Best Internet rates come with a 24 hour cancellation policy.

I have never heard of a hotel not allowing cancellations until 24-48 hours before check-in. That is pretty standard practice. Thanks for the warning.

Did you go through Orbitz or Expedia? If you did you are probably in for a lot more hassle. If you booked directly with the hotel I would dispute the charge on my credit card. Most hotels have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If they don't give your money back copy their policy from their website and send it to them.
