Estee Lauder Complaint - Lipstick and Bronzing powder compact - Make up

Make up - Complaint
Review by Suziles on 2006-07-16
TAURANGA, NEW ZEALAND -- In January I decided to purchase a full make up package. I chose Estee Lauder as I was under the impression this was a top quality brand. I spend close to $1000 NZ on all my products.

The bronzing powder compact was a problem from the beginning. Half the time (or more) when trying to open it I found it stiff and hard to open. Then it would open with the casing displaying and not the product. I constantly need to reclose it and try again. It causes my nails to break and is very frustrating.

In May I dropped my Pure Colour lipstick in the washbasin at work. The pink and gold lower segment became detached and would not reattach to the body of the lipstick. I feel the product should be more robust than this.

I contacted my salesperson, Julia, at Life Pharmacy of Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand and was somewhat taken aback with her abrupt and non helpful attitude. She told me I should have brought the compact back immediately and told me to find some glue and glue up my lipstick. I actually dont think with her or Life Pharmacy's attitude they would have replaced my compact anyway. I feel it is a DESIGN FAULT. This is probably the case with the lipstick too.

I am extremely disappointed that I was misguided into believing these expensive products represented the finest value for money. I feel I would have done better to choose a different company. I was prepared to spend a lot of money for quality. Estee Lauder needs to review its quality assurance and possibly its choice of consultants.

I understand your frustration with Estee Lauder as I buy it myself and it is expensive. But I do love the quality of the make-up itself and I've never had a problem with the applicators or cases themselves. Forget the consultants, they got their commission and that's all they care about. Go directly to the company itself and explain what happened. I'll bet you'll get alot further with them. Also can I ask if you know the US dollar amount of what you spent? I'll drop about $200.00 but it lasts a long time.

I think Estee Lauder is NOT a good product. Bare Escentuals is the best. It's made from natural elements, and free from perfume.

Dorcas: As of Friday's exchange rates $1000NZ would be equal to $620.70 USD.

Bare Escentuals is awesome, it is all I use now. I have found packaging problems with other cosmetics too though, you really should contact Estee directly because I bet you aren't the only one that had the problem.

Thanks for the money translation, WOW. That's big bucks to have the package breaking down.I've seen the commercials for Bare Essentuals and wondered if it was as good as it looked. I'm tired of spending so much money just to find the quality isn't all that it's cracked up to be.
