ebay...Disaster for 1st Time Real Est. Sale Complaint - EBay... 1st Time eBayer Treated Like Criminal!
SUSPENDED after placing a 1st time ad on eBay! The company's interface purports to be inviting & facile to new members--NOWHERE following their Ad Format Interface protocol was I advised that as 1st time seller of real estate I absolutely needed VeriSign, etc. confirmation. Give me a break! This company was founded over 10 yrs. ago and the system can't even disperse basic warnings to newbies?! Hey, Pierre Omidyar! I'm unemployed right now, how about hiring me as an Interface Quality Assurance Advisor?
WHAT FOLLOWS IS ACTUAL TRANSCRIPT OF THIS ONGOING MESS:
MY RESPONSE TO SUSPENSION ALERT (July 5): "Please contact me at (###) ###-####. What is going on here? My father and I studied 20+ printed pages of your eBay procedures before entering our land sale on Ad Format on your system. We have planned this for 2.5 weeks! We spent 3 hours yesterday answering all protocol questions including personal checking/credit account only to discover the next day (July 4th) that you have suspended the account!? For what? Our ad hasn't even appeared and we are being told seller fees will be deducted regardless? If that is attempted then I will have my platinum card/bank account cancel the charges. Is this how first-time eBay members are treated? Please communicate with us on how this can be rectified. So far this has caused stress and nothing but wasted time. Time that we are being told we are paying for."
ME [LIVE HELP](July 5): "Nothing directed us in the steps re: 'high price item' -- They need to clearly present that option in the sign-up/posting form."
"B" [LIVE HELPER]: "I agree, but they haven't done that as of yet. The only way to get your account going again is to contact them for instructions on how reinstate your account."
"B" [LIVE HELPER]: "I can see where you're coming from in this situation and I can certainly understand why you are upset, I would be too."
MY EMAIL [FOLLOWING "B"s INSTRUCTIONS]:
"Please provide steps necessary to reinstate my account and property ad which involved much time and effort on my part to develop on your system.
Online help informed me that very likely, eBay suspended my account because I am a new seller with a high-priced item.
I believe that eBay's Web form Customer Interface is seriously lacking in this respect. Among all the sequence of payment/ad format menus where was the one that asked if I were a new member (with a high-priced item)?
Surely the real-estate section should request such data so that a potential eBay member is not wasting so much time and effort for naught.
You have all my ID/checking/credit data. What more do I need to do to pay your fees and reactivate this ad?"
(July 6): ACCOUNT REINSTATED: Blank account; real estate ad that my 80 yr. old father and I had spent hours on, ERASED.
(July 7): ACCOUNT SUSPENDED Again! Even though nothing new was entered--I simply checked to see if I could log on/check alerts. (What, did they change their minds?!)
(July 16): Following eBay's harsh e-alert notice to criminal abusers (evidently my family is the Sopranos) we are snail mailing copies of oath that we will be better Jersey City citizens; license ID; utility bill; tax forms for 7 property lots--this last one we figured out ourselves since eBay doesn't have a clue how somebody proves land ownership--Hey dudes, these aren't baseball cards!
TUNE BACK IN--IN ABOUT A MONTH TO DISCOVER WHAT REAL ESTATE COMPANY WE'RE GOING TO SHELL OUT TO...
eBay: Do It Yourself? FORGEDDABOUTIT!
Yes folks, this is certainly the selling/buying wave of the future (and today?!)
