MyMusicInc Complaint - MyMusicInc Lies about a Free Trial Period

Review by Paul in San Francisco on 2006-07-18
WHITBY ONTARIO -- I wanted to be able to download music honestly by
paying a fee, which I thought would be paid to ASCAP, BMI, etc. Relying on a promise of 30-day free trial, in January I signed up with
701 Rossland Rd East #369
Whitby Ontario

Mymusicinc immediately charged $18.95 (US) to my
credit card. I sent an email to cancel within 30 days. Since then I have gotten nothing but run around from "customer service" people like Geoff S., Tommy E., and Brian N.: Why do you want to cancel?; Did you use our cancellation form? Your refund will be processed within 2-3 business days; Why do you want to cancel?; Your refund will be processed; Send me a copy of all your e-correspondence about this matter and I'll look
into it personally; Did you use our cancellation

Meanwhile I still get spam from companies somehow
affiliated with mymusicinc. All BS and rip off.
These people should be in jail for criminal fraud.

The fact that they are a Canadian company probably does not help much in terms of their motivation to keep you happy. They know it is a lot more work for you to actually get any consumer help with them being in another country. Hopefully your post will help warn others at the very least.

You are right, of course. Actually the Federal Trade Commission does have a complaint form for collecting complaints against out-of-country scammers. It purportedly makes these complaints "available" to law enforcement world-wide. I did fill out the FTC form, as well as a complaint to the Ontario consumer protection agency and the California attorney general and my Congresswoman. I am not holding my breath that any of these agencies will do anything at all -- their typical response.
