Edwards theaters, AMC, UA Theaters Informative - Bad Management - Movies

Review by NYC Exec on 2006-07-19
HOUSTON, TEXAS -- Edwards Marq*e Stadium 23 movie theatre on Weslayan Dr in Houston, TX is horrendously managed. The night manager and his top crew are proactively racist. My wife and I were treated like blinking oddities from space because of the differing colors of our skin. Seats were soaked with sodas, floors were sticky and counter sales people were rude, and the projector attendant actually fell asleep during the transition between the commercials and the actual film.

...AVOID.

Can you explain how they were being racist? Did you find some dry seats? I can't remember a theatre that didn't have sticky floors. Did you complain to the manager or corporate about your experiences? What movie did you see?

ZZ:I was wondering the same thing. Did the employees lead only you two to the wet, sticky seats or where you free to choose your own? And was the projector operator only showing the movie for you two or for everybody to watch? I recommend you stay at home and wait for the movies to come out on video.

I was wondering the same thing, were you like the only ones at the movie theater?

NYC Exec: Sometimes racism is perceived, and sometimes it is very real. Can you explain in what ways were the manager and crew "proactively racist"? Sticky floors, wet seats and rude counter people are usually just part of the "movie-going experience", and that is why I take Dorcas' advice, and wait till it comes out on DVD.

Yep, wait 'til it comes out on DVD, watching it on my widescreen TV. Can wear whatever I want, eat whatever I want. AND, I know my floors aren't sticky.

The AMC here in Danvers MA. is FILTHY. It was originally built and owned by LOWES. It was very clean and well kept for all the years Lowes ran it. AMC has aquired the theater within the last year and its discusting now. The rugs are saturated with filth as are the seats and floors, many of the chairs are broken and the upholstery is torn up on many of the chairs. The glass counters and condemint stand are filthy and look as if they are never washed down. I watched once when the crew came in between shows to pick up they didnt make it past the first 2 rows , before they ran out. Many times the films are not run on time or they are not even centered on the screen. the last movie I took kids too I had to get up 20 minutes into the movie to ask them if they would turn the lights down. AMC needs an overhaul for sure.
