Sears Complaint - Hourly repair rates - In-Home Washer Repair
MASON, OHIO -- I had a repair on a 5 year old Kenmore washing machine (the second time that the gears had went bad) The part was $7.41, the repairman was at the house for 10 minutes and the Labor was $129.99. According to Sears, their labour is not that high, $59 was a service fee. Even at that, Sears charges $420 per hour labor based on the fact that this guy was only at the house for 10 minutes. When I called to complain, they explained (rather rudely) that everyone pays the $59 on top of a job code assigning the labour charge. Since all of my appliances are currntly Kenmore, and the fact that I will not buy Kenmore again, I hope that the $129 charge was worth it. I would guess that this ridiculous charge will end up costing them $1,000's of dollars since their appliance seem to play out every 5 years or so, but then, the company is doing so well, they do not need my money.
