FULLERTON, CALIFORNIA -- My husband was blind and I wanted to know where he was so we got Lively Mobile as it was recommended by a friend. Plus, it has the GPS. I have been using it for five years and I have peace of mind since then. But, my husband passed away and I use the medic alert myself. I would hear chimes and I could not pinpoint exactly where it was.

I finally figured out it was the medic alert so I called the guy and told him that I do not know what it means but he did not know as well. It was a couple of years since I read the directions in it so I figured out that it needs to be charged so I tried it again and I usually charge it every night. I talked to their customer service when we had to replace the whole thing when we did it accidentally and it was easy. And sometimes, my husband squeezed it and push it without knowing it and the team's response was very good and in due time.

COPAKE FALLS, NEW YORK -- I feel good having GreatCall. I used to be with another company but I could only go 100 feet. I am disabled and I love to get on my scooter so with GreatCall, I can go anywhere. I have fallen a few times. I asked their reps to get me Copake Rescue who is two miles away from me as my brother is 50 miles. The reps are very good. They get Copake Rescue to come to me. GreatCall does not cost me much and I have had it a long time. But, the device turns red every so often so I turn it off and wait a couple of minutes then turn it back on. Also, it is an old machine so when it beeps, it is on red and I put it on charge. That aside, I have recommended GreatCall Lively Mobile quite often.

CARMEL, CALIFORNIA -- I had to have a hip replaced. And then, one time I fell. My husband happened to give me a little nudge but he didn't know what he was doing. So I fell back and hit my head. My daughter then arrived just to call the paramedics and to get me up to the hospital. I was okay, but they said that from that point on, I should wear a medical alert device.

I've had Lively Mobile for several years now and I wear it all the time. It's the first thing I put on in the morning. If I don't wear it around my neck because I don't like seeing it through my blouse or sweater, I put it in my purse so that I can grab it in case I fall and can't get up. In the shower, put it in a place where I can reach it. And then every night, I put it to charge. There used to be someone who calls and say something about the call. But now, they don't do that anymore.

Overall, I've been pleased with it. I have recommended it to a friend, who had gotten into the tub and couldn't get out for hours. I told her son that I was very happy with it and that it was one of the least expensive around. I pay $22 a month and I don't want to go with anyone else because they're mostly double that.

TRENTON, FLORIDA -- I've seen Lively Mobile in the newspaper and I've had a few calls and I needed something because I live out in Trenton, Florida, which is way out on a county road. And when my husband was gone, I realized that I had no way of getting any help so when I saw this in the newspaper, I ordered it. I wear it but sometimes, I don't and I forget it. It's heavy around my neck but that's okay. It's just me because that's the area of my body from around my neck that gives me some trouble. The device is good and especially when we go away, I wear it all the time. I like it. My husband keeps saying, “Where is that thing around your neck?” “I didn't charge it.”

When I first got it, I kept hitting the button without realizing what I was doing and they called me a couple times and asked if I had a problem, and I said no so that time was embarrassing. I know it works and I'm probably going to have to be using it more and more. I know it's good and it all depends on the wearer of it and that's why I've got to buck up and do what I got to do right. For any of my friends, I definitely would tell them that Lively Mobile is one of the best.

GRANITEVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA -- I'm here alone during the day. My daughter works and she needs to know whenever I need somebody. I have two daughters. One lives out of town and the other one right about five or ten minutes from me. Lively Mobile is what my two daughters chose when they were looking medical alert devices up to go with.

I was getting ready to go to bed. I had not made my bed up that day ‘cause sometimes I would lie down. It was a little bit cold and I was trying to lay across my bed to straighten it up but bad things happen. I thought I was standing flat on my feet but I had leaned a little further. When I went to bring my body up and get on my feet, it threw me onto my back and on my side. I was able to knock everything off of my bedside table and I couldn't reach my phone and I happened to have not put this on charge by my bed and it was only me and I couldn't reach the phone.

I had the Lively Mobile then. I pressed the button and a woman answered. I told her that it was an emergency and I needed to get in touch with my daughter, that she could be here in a few minutes. She had both of my daughter's names and she called one and she was not able to answer the phone so she got my second daughter in Lexington. So my second daughter texted her back on her cellphone and she said through my alert system that Martha would be here in about 10 minutes and asked me to lay still and not get up.

I just hit some things and skinned my arm. The lady who assisted me was courteous and friendly. She told me exactly what to do till my daughter got here. I was bleeding above my elbow and she told me to get either a towel or something that was close to me to wrap around my arm till my daughter got here. My oldest daughter is a nurse and she came as quick as she could and she talked back to them. We didn't need an ambulance because she was able to help me get up. She doctored my arm until it got well.

My daughter said that is the good that it gives us. So that's the last thing I do when I go to lie down on the bed. I have it where I can reach it. Also, the necklace comes together every time I pick it up. However, the necklace bothers me a little bit when I wear it around my neck in the hot weather. Though if I got a shirt, I can hook it on to it and that takes the pressure off the necklace and relieves the back part of my neck.

The device lets me know when it needs charging. When I'm up earlier, I would look down and see an orange-looking light blinking. But it makes a noise if I don't go right on and take care of it. I have dropped it and one time it fell apart. When it hit, I thought that they'd be calling me so I grabbed it real quick and put it back together. But I've had them call me a couple of times to see if it was an emergency. I told them that I just leaned somewhere and bumped it and that was when they checked to see if we have an emergency, which I didn't have yet at the time.

ORONO, MAINE -- I was extremely ill a few years ago and I live alone. Then I was one of those people who could fall and not get up because of surgery on my legs so my daughter wanted me to have a medical alert device. I looked for one that had a GPS where I can go someplace and still get help and wasn't tethered to the home and got GreatCall Lively.

When I first got it, I was scared to use it. One evening I fell down and it took me about 20 minutes to go three feet and to get to the point where I could almost stand up, and then I pressed the button. I talked to the guy and he was so good. He said, “It's really all right for you to press the button. You don't have to spend 20 minutes trying to figure out how to stand up.” He was kind and made it really clear to me that I wasn't quite doing it right.

I wore it consistently the first year I had it when I was still having lots of vertigo and difficulty. Then as I've gotten a little bit healthier, I keep it charged right by my bed and use it when I have had either episodes of vertigo or incidents of Angina or asthma attacks.

Another instance, I fell outside and in a part of my yard where I wouldn't be visible to anybody and I pressed the button. It was really great because they kept me on the line and talked to me until the EMTs came. I was not injured but I was frightened so that was very good.

They were very calm and kept me talking, which I understood was a very good strategy. They asked if I hit my head and if there's part of mine that I was worried about. If I would go silent, they would ask very gently if I'm still there just to let me know there was somebody there. I live in a small town so the response time is usually very quick.

I have never fallen and injured myself ‘cause I'm very well padded and short. But I feel as though if I did, they would also be extremely helpful and I'd be confident that help would be on its way. Even if all I could do was press the button.

Most of the time, the device is quite comfortable. Sometimes I can tuck it into my bra, I can hook it on to my pocket, or I can wear it around my neck. When I was having some heart problems, I wore it on my collar where people could see it. I told my friends I was having a little difficulty and that the device was my call for help so it helped to remind them. I don't ask them to take care of me, but just that if something could happen and we might need to get help.

I've used it five or six times and each time I have it has been a very positive experience. There are times when I do not leave home without it and there are other times when I am well enough or I'm going to be with a lot of people that I don't need it. I'm extremely satisfied.

I've talked to my daughter about whether or not she felt I ought to get one that has fall detection. She told me I could get it in a year or two so I plan to look into that as I get older. I am so happy that I found this company. It's great and the best one for me even if I wear it selectively. It always gives me a sense of security because I always have it right on my nightstand as well.

SOUTH HOLLAND, ILLINOIS -- The person who recommended Lively to me said that she had gotten out of her car, locked the car up, left it running and discovered she had left her keys and stuff inside. She called and didn't know what to do; she didn't want to walk off and leave her car running.

So, she stood there panicked in the street and thought about the thing that her son had given her around her neck. She looked at it, tried pushing the button and the guy who answered the call on the other end got her service. A person came out, got her car opened for her and she got inside. I have a bad habit of losing and leaving my keys, and Lively was a great thing to have. So, I said, “Well, see, with assisting and that I can also use the same facility to also assist me.”

The Lively team was always friendly. There was a mistake made when somebody bumped against the device and it went off. I left my cellphone at home, called them for some assistance and found myself a cellphone in my purse. I would recommend Lively.

SAN JOSE, CALIFORNIA -- I'm 85 years old and I limp in one leg. I needed a medical alert device and got one from GreatCall. I wear it every day, I have it right by my bed every night, but I'm very lucky that I never had to use it. I use it every day in case something happens because of my age, and also, I have fallen a couple of times when I was younger.

I wear my device around my neck. I bought a gold and a silver chain to wear it on. If I'm wearing gold jewelry, I change the chain. If I'm wearing silver, I put the silver necklace on. Since using it, I feel perfectly safe because I live alone now. If I fall or have a problem, I would push it right away. One time, I bumped it against something and they thought I had a problem and they were right on to see. I apologized and they said it's not a problem.

I haven't had an emergency experience yet, but I feel confident that when I do, all I have to do is push this button. It went off one time and I called my friend who had told me about GreatCall. She told me to call the company, which I did. They assisted me on the phone turning it back on and they were very nice about it.

CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA -- Robyn: The call may be recorded. What concerns or difficulties did you have that led you to need a medical alert device?

Helen: I am 89 years old. I۪m in a wheelchair.

Robyn: And before using GreatCall, did you use another medical alert service?

Helen: Lifeline.

Robyn: And what made you decide to switch?

Helen: Well, I had a situation where I had no contact my phone was out, everything was out. I could not contact outside which included my medical alert. I couldn۪t really use that either. It was connected to the phone. If the phone wasn۪t working, it didn۪t work and I realized that was not a good thing for me.

Robyn: And since using GreatCall Splash, can you describe any changes in your day-to-day life like do you feel more independent, fewer worries?

Helen: Well, I do because my mailbox is a little distance from my condo and I go down on my motorized chair and of course, my Lifeline, it didn۪t work outside of the home so I often wondered what would happen if my chair went out going down to put the mail and then my neighbors won۪t be home. So that relieved me there and also, it۪s something you can take with you and it۪s very handy and it makes you feel better in knowing there۪s someone you can contact.

Robyn: And can you tell me about your experience interacting with the GreatCall team such as were they friendly, helpful, knowledgeable?

Helen: The thing of it is, I sometimes I have not had an opportunity to use them yet but just knowing that it۪s there with me, is a great help.

Robyn: Can you describe how your medical alert device fits into your everyday lifestyle like is it easy to use, comfortable, convenient?

Helen: Well, it۪s a little heavy to wear around our neck so I keep it on the I hang it here on my wheelchair with a chain that I have so I know it۪s just there because the wheelchair I can۪t be without my wheelchair so I know it۪s right there for me.

Robyn: And do you have any other experience or comments that you۪d like to share?

Helen: No, not really.

Robyn: And how would you rate your experience on a scale of 1 to 5 stars where 5 stars means you۪d recommend them to a friend, 1 star mean you۪re very dissatisfied?

Helen: Well, I would a 5-star because, like I said, something that goes with you and it۪s a comfort knowing you can reach somebody no matter where you are.

Robyn: So you would rate it a 5?

Helen: Yes.

Robyn: Finally, how would you summarize your experience in just a couple of words?

Helen: Well, like I said, I have not really had an opportunity to use it, so I don۪t think I would be able to talk on that part of it and I actually have an opportunity which I don۪t want to have. So, hat would be it.

Robyn: And would it be okay if we posted some of your comments on our website to make your feedback available to GreatCall Splash?

Helen: I don۪t care as long as you don۪t use my name.

Robyn: I can do it anonymously. That۪s not a problem.

Helen: Okay.

Robyn: The call may be recorded.

SUN CITY WEST, ARIZONA -- [David did the review on Catherine۪s behalf. Relationship: Son]

Robyn: I was just calling to see if she had a few minutes to tell me about her experience so far.

David: She could but she is a stroke victim, survivor or whatever and therefore, she can۪t speak. Yeah, she won۪t be able to tell you about her experience with it but I۪ll tell you. It seems to be okay but we don۪t know because we haven۪t had to use it yet. We assume it works fine. We like the price of it.

Robyn: Now, the call may be recorded. Did you purchase this as a result of the stroke?

David: No, we were on another device from ADT, the people that do the home burglary thing and theirs is okay but theirs is like $40 a month and also, it didn۪t go outside the house. I mean, it only worked inside or near your home and your device, when outside the house and it۪s about $20. So, you know, we switched.

Robyn: And since using GreatCall Splash, can you describe any changes in your day-to-day life like is she more independent now with it, fewer worries maybe?

David: I don۪t think so because it۪s basically that she had the same kind of device before with ADT. It۪s just almost the same thing except, like I said, it now works outside the home but somebody۪s always with her anyway. You know, she can۪t drive and she doesn۪t go anywhere on her own.

Robyn: Can you tell me about your experience interacting with the GreatCall team like were they friendly, helpful, knowledgeable?

David: Well, I didn۪t interact with the team except when I bought it and I went on the web and did whatever I had to do there and set it up. There wasn۪t any issue with that. I didn۪t talk to anybody because I bought it at Wal-Mart and then I came and brought it home and then I went on and registered it or activated it or whatever you have to do and that۪s the way it۪s been ever since.

Robyn: Can you describe how her medical alert device fits into her everyday lifestyle like is it easy to use, comfortable, convenient?

David: We don۪t know if it۪s easy to use because we haven۪t had to use it yet but yeah, it۪s the same as the one before. She wears it around her neck and when she has a problem then she pushes the button.

Robyn: How would you rate your experience with GreatCall Splash on a scale of 1 to 5 stars where 5 stars means you۪d recommend them to a friend, 1 star means...

David: No, I۪d give it a 5 at this point. Like I said, only one thing I would say is maybe this can be done, I mean, an outright test of it but I hate to test it because you know what I۪m saying to actually [unclear 0:04:23]. But there should be a way like maybe call either GreatCall or contact them in some way and say, We۪re going to test this within the next five minutes and it۪s gonna be a false alarm because it۪s just a test.۝ That might be something useful because right now, I just take it on space that it۪s going to work okay. Yeah, I۪m sure it works okay but, you know yeah, you don۪t want to find out when you really need it.

Robyn: Finally, how would you summarize your experience so far with GreatCall Splash in just a couple of words?

David: It۪s damn good.

Robyn: And would it be okay if we posted some of your comments on our website to make your feedback available to GreatCall Splash?

David: Let۪s don۪t.

Robyn: I can actually make it anonymous if you like.

David: All right then, you go ahead.

Robyn: The call may be recorded.
