AirTran Airways Complaint - Rude Customer Service & Corrupt/Illegal Policies
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- We were traveling from Orlando Fl. To Pittsburgh Pa. on 07/22/06. We had to stop in Altalta Georgia to make our connecting flight which was supposed to leave at 11:05 pm. Our flight out of Orlando was 15 minutes late...no problem....ummm yeah right. We arrived in Atlanta Georgia with 40 minutes to spare before the connecting flight departed. Well, that would have been fine if the airway did not make us WAIT ON THE AIRPLANE FOR 45 MINUTES AND MISS OUR CONNECTING FLIGHT. It was so bad that the captain came across the intercom and begged us to take the comment cards out of the back of the seats and complain about sitting on an ACTIVE RUNWAY for so long and missing our flight. Well, I assumed that Airtran would make things right and get us a connecting flight that night or at least get us a room until the following morning. WRONG! After standing in line for THREE HOURS, We were told that we would not be getting any kind of compensation for rooms or meals because the delay was due to WEATHER and was considered an ACT OF GOD. Um, it was 92 degrees and DRY. When I tried to explain that I was low on money due to returning from a week long vacation the "customer service" woman told me that it wasn't her problem. She then gave us a "voucher" with a number to call and get 30% off of a local hotel. Well, I had to call the number more than TWENTY TIMES because it kept hanging up on me. I told the "customer service" woman that I couldn't get through and she began LAUGHING AT ME!!! She again told me that it wasn't her problem. After finally getting through to the number I was told that I had to pay $49.00 for a room at the Best Western. I reluctantly agreed and was then told by the hotel that their shuttles quit running at 1am and was now responsible for paying and finding my own transportation! After getting to the room after 3am I opened the door to a dirty, urine smelling cesspool. Airtan NEVER AGAIN. I do not normally complain about companies, etc., but this series of disrespectful and demeaning actions by their so-called "customer service" staff has definitely tainted my point of view. I fly to Florida at least 2-3x per year and thought that this company would save me some money. I could have flown 1st class at another airline and still saved more. I will be contacting Travelocity, AirTran and last but not least my Credit Card company. I refuse to pay for this degrading incident and Airtan will be lucky if I decide not to press legal venues.
