Quiznos - Corporate Complaint - Company Policy
DENVER, COLORADO -- I have tried to speak to someone at Quizno's corporate offices about my concerns, but they are absolutely not interested. I think that it is reprehensible for them to throw out food. They act as if throwing out the ends of the bread somehow makes them better. It makes them pretty stupid on two counts. First, there are people starving in this world, even in this country. It seems like a slap in the face to the homeless and others who often go to bed hungry. However, it is also incredibly stupid for another reason. It is a waste of resources. They make a big deal about being unique. Well, if they had any intelligence or creativity at all, they would find some use for those pieces of bread. One that I can think of is to make homemade croutons. It's not that expensive. For an extra moment while they are making each sandwich, they could make a few cuts to the ends, collect them, and do whatever it takes to turn them into croutons. I have had homemade, fresh croutons before, and I will sometimes order a salad at certain restaurants (usually local) just to get those croutons. They are also good in soup for those who like that. They could even treat them as an extra special item by letting customers know that when they run out, that's it until the next time they make them fresh.
