Funmobile Complaint - Free Ringtone, not Free

About three weeks ago I downloaded what I thought was suppose to be one free ringtone download, I did not realize that when I did this I was subscribing to it. So for one solid week, I trie do get hold of someone, they never ever answered my phone calls nor did they answer my emails to tell them to unsubscribe me from this decieving program, So when I got my verizon bill, they tacked this big charge onto my bill, I had a heck of a time trying to get them to give me a refund for it, I now have a block on my txt. messaging and to all downloads,, Be careful what you think might be FREE, because it is not. Read the fine black line.

Why are you complaining about a service that didn't do anything wrong? You yourself say "read the fine black line" which I assume you mean "print"? If's your fault - not theirs.

Possibly the complaint is concerning the attempt to speak with or get an answer to e-mails when trying to unsubscribe, and not getting any response. Warning be:Nothing is free.

My 13 yr old son saw an ad for this company on line and since it said free down loads he clicked on it and put his phone number in. The next day he brought me the phone and showed me he was getting these joke type text messages. They had a phone number to call (this was also funmobile) I continued to call the number but no one answers. I called verizon to see if they knew what it was. She said indeed we would be charged for it since my son down loaded it. I completely understood that because it was not verizons fault. She was nice enough to tell me the order to text them in to get it to stop and said she could only put a block on down loads so if he got any text messages just dont open them. Any way got our next bill and no charges were on it. Boy did my son get a lecture about downloading things though! Pretty sure he wont do that again. I did go back and read there ad where my son signed up and it does say in there you will be charged so you just have to read throughly.

An update to this problem:
2 days ago my son received another text that he is subscribed to this company. Now, we have been on vacation and his phone has not been used so how did this happen???
I called verizon. They couldnt help much. Tried calling the company,sent text to stop,emailed them response. Well, called again this moring and i about fell over when a real person answered. Told them I want this stopped immediately and why is he getting it again. He claimed it must have been a glitch in the system and Im being charged $11.81. He also claimed that since I sent a text to stop I did it wrong. What I sent was "stop-end-unsubscribe." He says I should of just put "stop" and now the system rejected it. Huh??? I put exactly what my cell carrier said to in order to get rid of them. I tried to explain that this is no different than if he was calling my house and I told him to stop and he didnt then that would be harasment. Funmobile has been told in many ways to stop sending things to cell phone and they havent. Harasment! Even the person at Verizon told me this was a terrilbe company to deal with and they are extremely hard to get rid of.

Hey thank you all for your input! I work for a very large cell phone provider and my job is to expose scams such as these. We do not want our subscribers to get taken advantage of and we have several audit escalations outstanding for Funmobile. There short code (the number that the SMS messages are sent through) will be shut down by our provider TODAY! You will not be able to get scammed by them from our CO. They must clean up there act before they will be allowed to provide service through us again. Thank You all for voiceing your frustrations and they will be used to back up our actions!
