Ridiculous Cost and Premiums - Terrible Benefits

ROSWELL, GEORGIA -- My husband and I went to go get a preventative flu and covid shot at a pharmacy and insurance will not cover either. We pay over $6000/year with a $5000 deductible - ridiculous fees for worse than lousy coverage! So to get the flu and covid shot, UMR, UHC requires that we make a doctor's appointment (which will cost $$) so that they will cover the 'free' preventative inoculations. BEYOND incomprehensible! The health care/insurance system is truly broken!!

LAKELAND, FLORIDA -- This is by far the worst insurance company that I have ever dealt with. I was undergoing treatment for a life threatening condition when my employer changed insurance plans to UMR. Since that time all treatments and therapy have been denied and as I result I am now seven months behind in receiving treatment. Every day that passes brings me closer to relapse. There is a special place in hell reserved for people who have no empathy or compassion.

MISSISSIPPI -- They create as many loopholes as possible. You can have an emergency room visit, just don't cover the doctor. They will not pay. These guys are crooks!!! You're better off having no insurance. At least you can get a cash discount.

Discrimination

MARIBEL, WISCONSIN -- I called to ask some questions regarding coverage for plastic surgery and gender reassignment. Well, I was told that after the deductible is met, UMR will pay 100% for gender reassignment. I was then told that only if a procedure is medically necessary then insurance would cover 100% of plastic surgery after the deductible is paid. So my complaint is that I feel discrimination is apparent here. If a person wants to get their breasts removed to become a different gender, then the insurance company will pay, but if a woman or man wants to feel better about themselves, they only pay when it's medically necessary. Why will they not pay 100% for their betterment of themselves?

The cost of any surgery is quite high, and whether a person is having their boobs cut off for gender reassignment or just the betterment of a person's self-esteem, the insurance should cover it and not make any exceptions at all. If they make one person pay out of pocket then everyone should have to do the same. For what a person has to pay for insurance premiums, plastic surgery should be covered 100% as well.

Ridiculous Customer Service

TENNESSEE -- Today, I tried to confirm an authorization for a medical device. I have now spoken to 4 people, been disconnected twice, stayed on hold for over 1 1/2 hours and then told I had to speak to yet another department. I am now on hold yet again for a Supervisor because I told Mike at the 866-494-4502 number that I did not want to be transferred again and sit on hold for another 1 1/2 hours which he states he cannot control, nor did he even try to understand or help the situation, so I requested to speak to a supervisor. He tried his best to get me to just let him pass me off to another department and told me it would take longer to get a supervisor because he would have to "find one on the floor that wasn't busy". Now I am holding again.

I completely understand not having enough help but what I don't understand is why this company NEVER can answer a simple question without going through this. This happens EVERY time I call but not quite to this extent. Unfortunately, we do not have the ability to change companies as it is my husband's employer that keeps using this one, so it's use them or be uninsured. I tried to login and do it online however, their system is messed up and one time it lets you log in and the next it tells you you don't exist. Really???

UMR The Worst Insurance Company I Have ever had

SALT LAKE CITY, WISCONSIN -- My daughter was in a car accident nearly lost her life. UMR has gone out of there way to make things hard to get medical bills paid. We were asked for an accident report we provided that then we were asked 4 more times for the accident report. We provided it again and again. Then we needed auto medical insurance exhaustion letter Auto insurance paid $10,000 within 1 day of request and provided a letter for UMR. UMR pushed back said it was not itemized just showed that Auto paid $10,000 in medical. So we went back to Auto Insurance company and provider to get additional details. My company provides a service that assists with med bills Grand Rounds. Without their help with UMR and the Providers for that matter it would be hopeless working with UMR.

Bottom line if you or one of your family members nearly loses their life and you have good insurance that is to pay for services. Be prepared to be frustrated and spend months trying to get things resolved. If there was a negative 10 Stars this would be their rating. Sadly 1 is the lowest I can rate them.

Cobra Administration Is the WORST

WAUSAU, WISCONSIN -- I ended my Cobra benefits in October 2021. On November 2, 2021, UMR decided to take 2 months of payments from my checking account, WITHOUT my knowledge or permission. When I called, I was told OOPS, new program. It has taken over 2 weeks to get my money back. The Customer Service is horrible, lots of excuses, and empty promises. They are by far the WORST company to deal with. It took seconds to illegally remove the money from my account and over 2 weeks to get it back, by paper check in the mail. They can steal from my account via electronic withdrawal, but cannot return the money that way. If you are going to use UMR Cobra, I strongly suggest that you mail them a check and not give them access to your banking accounts.

UMR is incompetent & inefficient.

IOWA, IOWA -- We are now 6 months since some vision services and UMR has not processed the claim accurately yet. After about 10 phone calls and numerous emails, they are still processing our provider as "out of network" when the UMR website clearly identifies him as "in-network". We won an appeal to the Salt Lake City mailing address, but they still processed the claim incorrectly. We now wait to see if they process correctly after another phone call, long wait time, and being connected to different departments. They state new EOB's are online which they are not. UMR is incompetent in processing of claims. Blame it on Covid??? I think not. I'm glad UMR is not my surgeon. UMR incompetence is a good case for single-payer health care. Customer NO service should be their motto.

CHEATED ME OF MY HARD EARNED $ AFTER AN INJURY THEY DID NOT PAY WHEN I WAS TOLD IT WAS COVERED

I was injured in March and the hamstring of my femur was ripped off my bone never to repair - additionally, the same fall left me with a dislocated and broken wrist so imagine the pain and inability to move... unable to move, I was laying on the ground for hours until a neighbor saw me and called an ambulance, I had my neighbor dial my employer to let them know of my accident and they told me since I pay over $700 a month for premium insurance I was covered 100% ambulance and all medical needs. Insurance company is UMR, a United Health care company and so I, unable to get medical attention on my own and having my employer ensure me that I was covered I had the ambulance take me to hospital where I lay additional hours in agony until seen....

Now I start getting bills that I was told I was covered... What on Earth am I paying over $700 a month for prmium coverage when I still get billed and I am suppose to have the best coverage??? This t injury took place in March of 2021 and I am still not getting the help I need to resolve this and have the bills paid by UMR- a UNITED HEALTH CARE COMPANY after all the money they steal from me every month and I never have a claim, when something happens, they steal more money by not paying the bills.

NEBRASKA CITY, NEBRASKA -- In all my years of dealing with Insurance Companies UMR has to be the Absolute, Most insufferable, Most Fork tongued, and let's make sure not to leave out The Most Crooked as a dogs hind leg bunch of Crooks I have ever had to deal with. Our Power Company for whatever reason except to put more money back in their pockets switched from Blue Cross Blue Shield to this band of idiots.

Try and contact these clowns for help, grab a chair some lunch and probably a twelve-pack because you're going to be on the phone for God knows how long going from one operator to another accomplishing absolutely nothing. Prior to eye surgery, I spent around 2 to 3 hours just trying to find out about my coverage. After two days of calling and arguing with operators who again never seemed to have a answer except "I will transfer you to another agent" who by the way did the same thing.

After surgery again I have been plagued with the fact that no one seems to know anything about my coverage and can't seem to answer why a lot of the bills are not getting paid. I love spending over an hour on the phone just to be transferred to another line that ends up dead. If you're company plans on using this bunch of thieving clowns, find another company to work for...chances are they both have their hands in your pockets.
