Inaccurate Refill of Prescribed Medication

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I needed a refill on a prescription that PPS had filled 3 months earlier, and, with no refills remaining, PPS reached out to my doctor for authorization. When I received the meds (along with another refilled medication requiring the same process), one medication was only a one-month supply, unlike the second medication and unlike the supplies of these same medications I had first received from PPS 3 months earlier.

When I called and spoke to a PPS pharmacist, she said that, while my doctor had written the first prescription for 48 grams (a 3-month supply), this time the doctor wrote it for only 2 grams. The pharmacist said that 2 grams of this medication isn't even a proper amount (at 16 grams per month, 2 grams would be roughly a 4-day supply), acknowledging that it was obviously a mistake. When I expressed dismay that she had not checked back with the doctor for clarification, she said they just "gave me the benefit of the doubt" and sent me the one-month supply.

I consider this to be an unacceptably shoddy performance of this pharmacy's duty of customer care. They deal with powerful medications that can be toxic if taken improperly and yet they couldn't be bothered to clear up an obvious mistake. Being apparently too lazy to follow up with the doctor as they should have, it would have been more responsible if they had declined to fill the nonsensical prescription rather than simply GUESS as to what my doctor may have meant. To me, this borders on malpractice. I am happy to see that my insurance carrier has just days ago added Express Scripts as a preferred network pharmacy. I've dealt with them for many years and they have always provided the highest standard of care in performing their job.

Becoming a Client, Filling Prescriptions

PORTLAND, OREGON -- This is the preferred mail order pharmacy of Hometown Health Insurance. I mailed my prescriptions to PPS in Portland, OR all in one envelope with ID and insurance card via priority mail with tracking number. I received a missed call from PPS with no voicemail, I called back to be told no one called me. Within <2 hours, I received a text from PPS requesting I call. I immediately called to be told no one texted me.

Ohhhhhkkkk, the next day, I receive a text stating my prescriptions have been shipped via USPS (United States Postal Service.) Within an hour, I receive another text stating we've received your prescriptions, we can't fill until you call us. I called immediately, I'm told no one called you. I inquire of the text received that my prescriptions were mailed and asked WHICH of the 9 prescriptions were mailed?

The tech reads that 7 of 9 were mailed out, I inquire of the remaining 2; I'm told 1 - they just left holding and 1 - they claim they didn't receive. "Uhhhh no, all 9 were shipped via Priority Mail in ONE envelope, you need to find the 8th and where and why isn't the 9th processed?" "We can't find it." "Ok now, cholesterol medication?" "Well then, call my Dr. and have her OK it with you then, not my issue, yours."

Next? Fed Ex shows up at my door with a box of meds that were supposedly sent USPS... Huuhh? So I call to ask if I was charged extra for this, I did NOT express my meds. Answer? Ummmmmmm not that I can tell. OK! I have had more inconsistent communication both via phone and text than is comfortable for me to trust this company with my medication. If they are THIS INCONSISTENT in BASIC communication, are they putting the right patients' meds in the right bottle, shipping to the right person? SCARY!!! Check your meds upon arrival. Look them up via Pill Finder and make sure the med in the bottle matches your prescription.

Super Fast Mail Order

PORTLAND, OREGON -- My insurance just changed, and was told that PPS was the preferred provider for mail order. I was skeptical - their website is clunky. I had to actually print out and mail in the new Rx request. No fax, no electronic submission. I've used many, many mail-order Rx companies. They average about 10 days to get your Rx... So I was prepared to wait. I put it in the mail on Saturday. On Monday, they called to verify some info. On Tuesday, the Rx package was on my doorstep at 7am. I'm not sure they have the best prices, and I will probably shop around before I use them again.

The customer service representative on the phone was a little dopey (I had to explain "Prior Authorization" and "Tier Exception" to her). But they sorted out my complicated Rx easily with my insurance, and they are FAST. I am amazed at how quickly they were able to get me my Rx. They get a few stars for this.

Nothing but Headaches!!!

PORTLAND, OREGON -- I have had nothing but headaches with this company. Every interaction with them has resulted in me needing to call them back to clear up their mistakes. In general, their phone staff is not friendly. I also don't appreciate that I can hear other customer service reps in the background talking to customers about their prescriptions and using their name. I should NOT hear anything about anyone else's prescriptions!

I have now tried 3 times to get my husband added to our account. The website says an email has been sent to him allowing me access. The customer service reps tell me that they show the email has been sent and will send another. He never got the confirmation email. I just feel that their entire system (computers and reps) are inept! At open enrollment time I will be looking to change my insurance carrier just so I don't have to deal with these clowns.

PORTLAND -- Due to my insurance, I've had to use them for many, many years. In the past, until they improved things, I was very happy with their fast service and easy to use website. Simply put: I am not happy with the new look of their website or its lack of functionality. I've worked with computers, applications and networking since 1978 so it's not that I am not tech savvy. Intuitive it is not. Easy to maneuver it is not. I have ended up using the phone to order refills and even that process is more lengthy.

I just attempted to login and find out why my refill has yet to arrive even though I have received a notice from my clinic that the doctor signed for it nearly a week ago. At first in January I thought I'd gotten to a spoof of the site. No notice to us that there would be a change or what it would look like. Nothing. Once again, "progress" is slow, inadequate, and repelling - not an improvement. The final blow was when I write this review on their website, and upon completing it, there was only one option - "Cancel" as the "Post" button was grayed out!

Not your normal mail order service

PORTLAND, CALIFORNIA -- People are rude and not knowledgeable of the industry they are in. Typically you get a bargain in mail order prescription services related to your insurance that is 3 months of medicine for 2 months of co-pays, not this one. It just is not worth the hassle dealing with these rude people telling you your Rx was canceled, and them having a bad attitude, and no knowledge, when you can go to your local pharmacy that knows you and pay the same thing and not have to wait. This one you just get 2 months of medicine for 2 months of co-pays and no bargain and a bunch of hassle and rudeness.

Excessive Charges and Mailed RX to Wrong Address

PORTLAND, OREGON -- First, I can't remember the cost but I was shocked to see a huge increase in my generic thyroid medication. PPS representative said the drug companies were charging more. Second they sent me three canisters of Pro-Air, a rescue inhaler that I seldom use. I only needed one. ProAir is expensive and has a relatively short shelf life. When I called to complain, they just said too bad, they cannot be returned or refunded. Third they sent a RX to an address I had changed. I had written the new address three times on the order form. They did resolve this satisfactorily, mailed a refill to the correct address and did not charge me.

Deceitful Practices

PORTLAND, OREGON -- Postal Prescription Services (owned and operated by Kroger Corporation) is a preferred mail order company for my insurance company. However, they will not quote prices. They say that you have to purchase your prescription before you know what you are going to pay for it. The copay I've had to pay with them has always been more than my copay on prescriptions from local pharmacies.

I suggest calling your local pharmacies and asking what their prices are and what your actual copay will be with your insurance. You can save a lot on 90-day supplies locally. The Postal Prescription Services employees are often rude, uncaring, and unhelpful. I would not recommend their "services".

Becomes Worse Every Time I Try to Refill a Prescription.

PORTLAND, OREGON -- Absolutely nothing. The Postal Prescription Site continues to deteriorate. So now I have to order my refills by telephone at their 800 number. At least that still seems to work. So why does the Washington State Healthcare Authority continue to afflict us with an inferior prescription service? Is it actually a big Democrat kickback scheme? After all, both Oregon and Washington are controlled by leftists.

The situation has become so ridiculous that no speculation seems too wild at this point. And now it seems that Kroger has stuck its big foot into this mess. Think Walmart. Well anyway, the only cure appears to be bankruptcy for Postal Prescription Service. I see no other way that Washington State Employees and Retirees can obtain serious prescription drug service.

Outstanding Service

PORTLAND, ILLINOIS -- I enrolled in Medicare Part D drug coverage effective 1/1/18. The insurance carrier, Cigna HealthSpring recommended Postal Prescription Services as a preferred provider, offering even lower co pays (my cost) than their own mail-order pharmacy. I have now received 3 prescriptions from PPS, and my internist ordered 2 more today. The service is excellent, accurate and fast. Their website is easy to use, and I was able to track deliveries precisely.

The 2 prescriptions added just today are in their system, and I am confident that they will also be filled and shipped perfectly. Having never heard of PPS before, I was a bit concerned about an unknown company. However, I am very happy to have been referred to PPS, and I will gladly continue to use them as my primary Rx source.
