Fallen Internet Line Due to Storm

NO COMPANY, GEORGIA -- Called AT&T, do not recall exact date... the end of Dec, 2019 or first of Jan. 2020. There had been a storm in the area and it blew the line down into an evergreen shrub and across some dogwood trees. Internet service was working with the fallen line. After a long time on the phone being switched from one person to another I finally got someone who reported the problem. Seems they were more concerned with whether you have service or not.

During these lengthy conversations I was told if a serviceman had to come into my home there would be a charge. Otherwise work outside would be no charge. It has been told to me through these utility companies that their lines are private and should not be worked on outside their business. A manager at AT&T told me that I needed to have it repaired myself.

On Jan 14th a dispatch fee of $99.00 was charged to my account for a man who came to my home who rang my doorbell and was unable to find the line to my home and then after seeing the line lying in the bushes saw no problem. I asked if he thought the line was suppose to be lying in the shrubs? He then did some work on the line using a ladder and as he was leaving I noticed the line was as it was before. He got his ladder again and pulled it out of the shrubs up on the house. He did mention in his report that the line was in the bushes. He was clearly mentally challenged this day. Surviving the Matrix is not always easy especially for senior citizens.

Over Billed

EVANS, GEORGIA -- I switched my service from Comcast to AT&T and DirecTV bundle which was a huge mistake. I wanted to sign up for AT&T 1000 Mbps high speed internet but the associate lied to me about not having that speed because he wanted me to sign up for the DirecTV bundle for the price I told him I would not go over. I signed up for the bundle and he said there is no installation charges except for the one time 35 dollars charge.

When the installation guys came they told me that he had lied to me about the 1000 Mbps speed. I called back and asked for the change. The associate also told me that the bills will be separate for one month but he was wrong again and the bills were separate for two to three months and the DirecTV charge was almost 200.00 while the AT&T bill was 80 dollars. I called them and canceled the DirecTV and they said they were going to waive the charges. They also broke my HDMI cable running through the wall.

So after a couple of months DirecTV sends me a 271.00 bill saying that it is for installation charges and some other fees. I called AT&T and they said they can not do anything about the bill. I will switch back to Comcast and will never go to AT&T or DirecTV.

NORTH CAROLINA -- I discontinued services at the end of Sept 2017 for a more affordable provider. I was informed that last payment will have to be sent in the form of via money order or check… however the following week, they took money out of my acct. Without knowledge… they apologized for inconvenience and proceeded to reverse payment that took almost two weeks to put back on my acct… then a few weeks later they took the money out again!! The worst provider I have ever had and will never utilize them again. I hope that anyone seeking phone and internet service through AT&T really do their research and view their negative reviews before making a decision… I wish I did.

Every Day& Night I Lose My Connection. I Have to Unplug & Plug in My Cable Box.

SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA -- It has been a while since we have called, but every night I have to get on my hands & knees to unplug the cable box. Or I have to unplug the main receiver at least 2-3 times a day. We are both in bad health. We call & we get someone we can't understand, keeping us on the phone for at least an hour. We are paying the bill but have to do all the work? Told that it will cost to send someone over here to help. Sounds like a scam!

I wasn't this taken care of or I am reporting you to Better Business. Plus it is 1/2 shopping channels. This bill is under my housemates name, but I split the bill with her. We are paying for garbage. Also our internet is not high speed. It may be time to sue!

Horrible Customer Service And Follow Through.

ILLINOIS -- DO NOT GET AT&T INTERNET! I have had cell service with AT&T for over 4 years and have been very satisfied. About 2 years ago when I switched from cable to satellite, I signed up for AT&T internet. I had a $14 a month internet contract for 1 year with a option to keep the same price for a second year. All was OK the first year but my internet went up to $43 after the first year and they refused to honor their offer.

This February they offered me a deal for home phone and Internet for a lower price than just Internet. Even though I didn't need a home phone, I accepted. That's when it all went downhill fast. Before that, I had my cell service, DirecTV, and Internet bundled. They unbundled my accounts and to make a very long story short, I ended up having to pay 2 months worth of bills in one month.

When I called customer service, they gave me the runaround and transferred me several times. After being on the phone several hours, I was given a credit on my internet of 2 months and given a confirmation number. All was great until 2 weeks later when they shut off my service.

They had never credited my account. Round two of several hours of being on hold and they said the credit was on my account and restored service. I called the next day again because the credit was not there. After being transferred several times, I said I would hold for a supervisor. They sent me to the disconnect dept. So while I was on hold, I signed up for Comcast Internet and provided to cancel my internet with AT&T.

"World-Class Leader of Customer service"~REALLY?!
By -

DAVIS, CALIFORNIA -- The horrendous customer service that my roommates and I have unnecessarily received for an ongoing two months is in stark contrast to AT&T's promise to “deliver world-class customer service.” As an undergraduate at UC Davis who lives with other college students, wealth in time and money are not assets which I can easily claim. Sitting for hours on the phone, wasting hundreds of cell phone minutes, and describing the same unsolved situation to countless departments has been the constant nightmare which we have faced due only to the simple desire to reconnect our internet service.

Although I have related my case what now seems like countless times, I will once again attempt to explain my situation. Due to confusion and miscommunication, one of my roommates decided to cancel our internet service with AT&T after she moved out of our residence. At this point, I promptly called AT&T to set up a separate Internet account under my name for basic services.

Given that we already were in ownership of the wireless router, an installation CD, and all other devices necessary to connect to the internet, it seemed a safe assumption that this would be an easy process. Little did we know that we were about to face a nightmare which made the stress of finals, work, and school pale in comparison.

During my first phone call, I was assured I would receive internet by June 4, 2007 which satisfied me given that this was one day before my finals and deadlines for papers would begin. After a 78-minute long conversation with the representative, I was guaranteed the service. However, I did not have internet as I was promised on June 4. I also did not have internet on June 6 or June 8 as I was reassured in the many phone calls I was forced to make between each of these dates. I have taken the time to attach a list of employee reference numbers that is long and looming and demonstrates how familiar we became with each of the highly disorganized departments at AT&T.

Amidst being hung up by several representatives, erroneously transferred to different departments who could offer little in the way of service, and constantly facing another failed promise, I learned that we were somehow registered for two different accounts. This may seem horrible enough in itself, however what was truly distressing and amazing to myself and my roommates was that our strange “second” account was under the name of another man named **.

One AT&T department was only able to access the incorrect account under my name while another AT&T department could only access the account under **. The level of confusion exhibited by AT&T representatives due to this type of internal disorganization was small in comparison to the bewilderment of three college students who just needed internet.

Following numerous unpleasant verbal exchanges with many AT&T representatives, we were finally able to reconnect our internet service four hours after the promised scheduled time on June 8. My roommates and I alternated on our phones due to each of us in turn surpassing our minutes limit until we were guided through a complicated process of connecting the internet. The sympathy of certain representatives managed to guarantee us a two month credit on our bill due to the gravity of our experience and the level of our dissatisfaction. However, as we have quickly learned with AT&T, the nightmare never ends where we think and hope it will.

As atrocious as the above may seem, I'd like to stress that I promptly received TWO bills to my address despite believing that I no longer had two accounts and would receive a credit regardless. And so the next chapter of our AT&T experience began. One bill had a credit applied to the amount which did not cover the full amount as were such promised previously by numerous seemingly confident and knowledgeable representatives.

Much to our surprise, the representative that we spoke to on the phone regarding this issue was someone whom we had somehow not managed to meet before, and still more surprisingly surpassed any type of rudeness we had undergone prior.

Approximately 900 of cell phone minutes later (Want to see the phone bills?), I somehow managed to clear the balance on one bill, but failed to do so for the second. I have faxed these two bills to (626) 577-6956 and was told by a confused representative attempting to clarify my situation to write “Attention: Scanner” (hmmm….. Is this AT&T's internal code for trash bin?). Again, one bill could only be viewed by one department while the other could only be viewed by a separate department.

We are all completely beyond any attempts for patience and feel fair in saying that we will not be paying any erroneous amounts on an account, whether it is an actual account or not. As leasing administrators of apartment complexes who have referred many students to AT&T and longtime customers ourselves, we are not only horrified and disappointed with our experience, but also entirely devoid of any understanding for this company.

As a photo lab technician, leasing administrator, full-time student, and community volunteer with roommates who are just as busy, it is also safe for me to say that I do not have the time to once again deal with the bureaucratic nightmare that is AT&T.

If the fact that I have received the worst kind of service across ANY industry within these last two months at the hands of AT&T has not been adequately communicated, I would like to once again emphasize my extreme discontent and frustration. Upon completion of my contract with AT&T in August, I will never again place myself in a situation where I will have to in any way deal with a company of this sort.

Given the type of “individual attention and care” I have received, it would no longer be surprising if this letter inspired less understanding than how sad I feel myself concerning what my roommates and I have had to face in the last two months. However, I do hope this letter at least inspires some kind of progressive change which will hopefully move the company toward actually fulfilling its motto to “deliver world-class service” in addition to remedying our entire situation.

VANCLEAVE, MISSISSIPPI -- Worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. Had to call with bill problem. Was on hold for 48 minutes before connecting with customer service. This is 3rd time I have had to call since I started service 3 months ago and had very long wait times each time. When this 2 year agreement I signed up for is over I will NEVER have any service with AT&T again.

Bad Services, False Information Given by Sale Persons
By -

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- After so many bad experiences with ATT, I had to take my time to write this review. AT&T, the company itself is fine but they did not have honest sale reps. I was given false information three times. Scenario 1: When signing up with AT&T a year ago, I was told by a sale rep that I would receive a $50 rebate along with a $25 cash back. After waiting 4-6 weeks as they said to wait, I called up the reward center asking them about my $25 check, they said they didn't know anything about it. There went my $25 cash back.

Scenario 2: I thought the $25 check got lost in the mail so I didn't care about it so I decided to sign up with AT&T again. This time it was so terrible because the sale rep told me that I will get back $50 rebate for ordering the wireless equipment. I specially asked her if I will get the rebate since I didn't open the account online and she said yes. After waiting for two weeks, still no rebate. When I called them up, they said that they didn't have any offer of that in the system. The only offer they had is if people sign up via online. There went my $79.99 which I could just stick to the old modem that I had.

Scenario 3: If you are to go with AT&T, make sure you do get the high speed connection you're getting. Even if they say 1.5 (high speed) or 3.0mbps for pro... etc., you might not get that internet connection speed. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT!!! I signed up with high speed express and I should get 1.5mbps but I always get 1.10mbps.
When called them up, the person at technical support blame my PC for being slow and he couldn't solve the problem. Ridiculous! my PC is new with window XP, 2.2Ghz, 100GB and that is slow??? Uh.. After my term ends, I will never ever going to sign up with AT&T, even if they offer the lowest rate out there.

AT&T Cannot Solve Connection Problems and Is Rude

CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- I had AT&T phone service and high-speed internet for year. In recent months, the internet became really slow sometimes and also had a lot of outage -- completely no connections, sometimes for days. I made tons of calls, wasted hours, problems not resolved. All I got was AT&T tech support blamed my computers, modems, routers for the problems. Once they lied to me that there was an outage in my area. I then asked around other guys were just fine.

One person promised something, another person completely denied it. I pointed out a mistake of a tech support about bits versus bytes. He literally laughed at me and tried to test my knowledge about bits and bytes. To tell you the truth, I am an electrical engineer. They think all customers are ignorant and they can fool all customers?
Complained to their complaint VP(?) but no reply. They used to give the option to review the calls, but recently I was not given this option. They dare not to face the customer. Finally, I canceled everything from AT&T.

U-verse Bundle Service Is a Scam, Big Time

HOUSTON, TEXAS -- I have been assured that switching to U-verse will be better compare to what I have. My Internet was DSL, my TV was HD from roof antenna, and my telephone was regular AT&T local service. The price offered was a little bit higher but better TV and better Internet sounds good so I placed my order for the U-verse. After installation of new service which took 4 hours of my time result was very, very disappointing. TV picture was much worse, family package was a trash, just a lot of shopping channels, nothing to watch. I believe that AT&T is dishonest promoting this U-verse technology.
