Popeyes chicken Informative - Great chicken, poor service

Review by IGKG2 on 2006-08-09
MONTGOMERY, ALABAMA -- I don't know what it is about Popeye's chicken but they hire the worst people. The employees are bottom of the barrel or have never been through training. I would refuse to go to Popeye's if it wasn't for the far superior chicken. Absolutely delicious, and I live in Alabama where fried chicken is king. I wish it was self serve, cause one of these days the service is going to keep me from my favorite meal. My only hope is they franchise to Ireland, so when I graduate I can go home and enjoy Popeye's.

Bottom of the barrel? Exactly what are they doing wrong? As for franchised chicken joints they aren't bad. Do you prefer the spicy or the mild? The red beans and rice is pretty good when it's prepared correctly.

Popeyes is decent, as far as chains go. Bojangles is pretty good too.

Also, mmmmmmm...red beans and rice. Much better when cooked at home.

You are really strange.

In the motherland "Ireland" we have meat and potatoes, not greasy under cooked chicken. How can you wish that on the wee little people? Have they not taught you anything with the potato famine? And does Popeye have one eye or does he just squint?

I agree with Lidman...there would be no such thing as wee little people once the fast food chains hit Ireland...just to to the local pub and forget about it.

The local pub is where little people go wee.

I used to love Popeyes - then I got food poisoning - no joke. It was like having your spouse cheat on you. You love something so much, and it turns on you...makes you sick...breaks your heart. I guess the employees are just a product of their demographic - up here they're on par with any other fast food worker - except for the one that tried to kill me with their chicken. NOW - bring on the deluge of 'raw chicken wing' references...I know certain regs won't be able to resist!

I went to Popeyes this past weekend. It was the first time in over 25 years since I had last been to a Popeyes - when I used to live in Louisiana. While the food was good, the service was so bad that I very nearly walked away without the meal I had just paid for to seek some better service. And the guy that finally put my meal together had nasty burns on his arm which appeared to be oozing.

I, too, have always wondered what the deal is with the service at Popeyes. I don't go often, but when I do, the service is always dismal, at best. And this is at various locations. It seems as if they go out of their way to hire the surliest help they can find.

No problems out here with the help. Grant1, how could you eat after seeing that? Yuck! Mad, are you sure that it was the chicken? Being an expert on "not fully cooked chicken" I don't take these accusations lightly.

Are you doubting the Eyeball?

I'd like to hear the chicken's side of the story first.

That's true! I seen the Hormel truck with a little shovel and zip lock bag scraping it off the street...
Posted by D. on 2006-08-13:
Well, the truck didn't have the shovel and bag, but the driver of the truck did!

Well, there is one good thing about Popeye's employees than they make good chicken.

Extremely poor service at Popeyes. I won't go there again.
