Gateway Informative - Shipping and handling scam
CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS -- About 2 years ago i orderd a new gateway p/c with monitor, board, etc.It was to be a payment plan thing.. i forget the exact cost..plus shipping and handling. When i got the computer it wouldn't log onto aol because they said Windows XP was incompatible with AOL. Well, this isn't what I asked for , so after calling their help line, I was told I would have to take it to a repair center that was 2 and a half hours away from me. Drop it off for ?? then drive all the way back and get it. That's 10 hours of me driving just to fix their mess up. So I called and told them i didn't want their junk computer and to send me shipping labels to return it. They did this, but then 6 months later i get a bill for $456 for shipping and handling. So, here is my complaint, If someone sends you something that just plain doesn't work, and they won't fix it... Why should I pay good money for this? They have since turned it over to a collection agency and now i owe over $500 and am constantly barraged by this rude collection agency. All calls to Gateway have been fruitless. This is no different than If i started a company and just sent out empty boxes to my customers, and when they complained I could just say.. " Well, just return it and we can charge you maybe $500 for actually doing nothing. "
I have since purchased another computer and you can bet it wasn't.. nor will it ever be.. a gateway product.
