Big Lots Complaint - Big Lots Sells Remanufactured Items
DALLAS, TEXAS -- Be careful if you shop at Big Lots. I bought what I thought was a new in the box carpet shampooer recently. When I went to order an attachment, I discovered that I had actually purchased a remanufactured machine. I did not see any notices posted in the store or on the outisde of the box warning that the product was not new. I contacted the store manager and was told that remanufactured items are sold as a matter of policy. Whenever I shop at Big Lots, I am always on guard for deals that seem too good to be true and consistently avoid any purchase of off brand items. In this case, however, I felt confident that the Bissell name on the product would assure reasonable quality. Although the store manager stated I could return the merchandise, I wonder how many others discovered they had bought a remanufactured small appliance when they tried to obtain warranty service after the "90-day" warranty period provided on rebuilt machines.
