U.S. Airways Complaint - Lost luggage, lost patience
NORFOLK, VIRGINIA -- What a nightmare! My fiance is in the US Navy. He was required to report to the naval station in Norfolk by midnight or he would be considered AWOL. He left Hartford at 5:45 a.m. He gets to Philadelphia. His 7:50 a.m. flight is cancelled. The service people proceed to tell him that the remaining flights to Norfolk are OVERBOOKED and they can't get him on a plane until 5 p.m. Luckily he took my advice and flew standby, which got him to Norfolk around 4 p.m. Good think, because the flight they put him on at 5 p.m. ALSO GOT CANCELLED. He would have been stuck in Philly.
But it gets worse.
My fiance checked his bags in Hartford and has not seen them since. In a week, he will be flying to a ship to defend this country in the Persian Gulf. 48-HOURS after his plane was scheduled to land, he still doesn't have his luggage. This includes his sea bag--filled with every one of his uniforms necessary for him to help defend his country.
Sitting next to him in the USO office at Norfolk Airport this afternoon were 10 Air Force personnel scheduled to hop a flight tomorrow morning to fly to Iraq. Their military bags are also lost.
These are only the circumstances that I know about, but according to other navy personnel at Norfolk, this has happened before...too many times.
I am beginning to think that US Air is ANTI-MILITARY and against anyone who is willing to risk their lives in defense of our freedom.
The people have been rude to him, they have no idea where his luggage even ended up. Those who did finally received their luggage: it was soaking wet. The crew in Philly just left the extra luggage out in the rain. So great. Now it's lost, then found, but everything in the suitcase is ruined.
DO NOT give them your business. Pass it on.
