Spirit Airlines Complaint - AVOID Flying on Spirit Airlines
My husband was scheduled to take a flight to Detroit today-- on Spirit Air. He was going there to be with my mother when she gets surgery tomorrow. They weren't the cheapest, but they offer a fairly affordable "business class" and Northwest is on strike conditions. So, they seemed like a reasonable choice. WRONG WRONG WRONG!!!
He was waiting to take the flight...there was no sign of any activity regarding check-in. He walked around a bit. Came back. Still no sign of any activity. Turns out, the flight randomly left TWENTY MINUTES EARLY. They put up a "gone fishing" style paper sign saying as much, near the gate. They took his bag on the plane without him...crazy given the current security procedures.
The bot at the desk first says they can give him a full refund. Then, later, he says, "oh, sorry, we can only give you $65 and a voucher." Voucher?? We don't EVER want to fly with these guys EVER, EVER again. Thus, a voucher doesn't help. They say, oh, well, we can get you on a flight tomorrow morning. Yeah, will it be run as well as this one?? The whole reason he's going is to be with my mom who's having surgery tomorrow morning. A flight tomorrow morning doesn't therefore help us one iota.
I called and got a fem bot named Rose (Employee #CO851). Can't give a last name. Of course not, in this age of NO ACCOUNTABILITY by corporations. She gives me the same story, with a nice sarcastic tone to it. Of course, there are no superiors to talk with. SHABBY!!
Now, it's not like my husband has never flown or flies once a year or something. He's a Northwest Gold Elite member. He flies ALL THE TIME for business. Obviously, he should have stuck with Northwest-- they're running much better even under strike conditions. I mean, who's ever heard of a flight just taking off whenever they want...twenty minutes EARLY?? Why even post a schedule?
My cheap advice to you: AVOID SPIRIT AIRLINES. They're not that cheap. They're usually late. They treat you like crap. Their seats suck. And their customer "service" is LOUSY. Plus, they can't even run on a schedule...the one time they're not late, they just randomly leave twenty minutes early without all the passengers but with bags unmatched to passengers. UNBELIEVABLE.
