Geek Squad Complaint - Computer service/repair
NEW YORK -- After loading a corrupted CD into my computer I decided to call the Geek Squad for help. The woman who answered the phone took all the information and gave me an appointment for the tech guy to come out to my house. She gave me the price....I didnt give her the price. I specifically told her of the issues and she assured me that all services would be performed not by an hourly rate but simply upon completion of the service. I also told her that I needed the computer cleaned out of old files and adjusted to work at maximum speed.
15 minutes after the tech guy was supposed to be there, I get a call from someone in florida that said that the tech guy reviewed what he was supposed to do and that the price was wrong. They wanted another $100 and said that they have "new people" working the phones and they are not "up on prices and services". Where does this become my problem? The woman thought that when I asked for my computer to be cleaned out after the tech guy performed all services, she thought I meant "dusted off". Now I ask you..... would I stay home and pay for someone to windex my computer?
Bill (who wouldnt give me his last name or I.D. number, reviewed the conversation (it was recorded) and agreed with me that I was very clear as to what I requested.
We were then disconnected. When I called back, and gave my I.D. number they said that "they" cancelled my appointment. They didnt notify me or even had common courtesy to give me the option of the tech comming out....even at the increased price. Now I ask you.....If I cancelled within 24 hours I would have been charged. Is my time worth anything?
The long and short of this is that they didnt live up to thier end of the bargain and treated this case with no professionalism. They couldnt give me the name of anyone to talk to and admitted that they screwed up and offered no means to fix the situation to keep a customer.
The funny thing is that my brother fixed the computer within 30 minutes which means that a real tech guy would have fixed the PC in no time and walked out of there with a check for $189.00.
I have never experience such inexperienced and inept people running a big organization.
I have 2 kids all in school and would have used a service like this at least once a year...they lost me and anyone who I would talk to about thier lack of service. Great way to run a company guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
