Stop & Shop Complaint - They just do not care about their customers, period.

Review by DissatisfiedCustomerinConnecticut on 2006-09-12
STAMFORD, CONNECTICUT -- I bought a Snapple Diet Lemon Iced Tea and when I got it back to my desk and opened it, it spilled all over my clothes and papers. It looked like it was coming from the label and top of the bottle. When I went to the Stop & Shop website to complain, the notice there said it could take up to two weeks for a response. Meantime they have a new store manager who I didn't tell about the problem because he is not a very nice person and I have a feeling, does not take complaints seriously. I would watch out for this store. They completely lack any sense of courtesy or professionalism towards customers, and seem to keep trying to see what they can get away with in terms of pricing (ie putting wrong items next to labeled prices, or leaving the prices off of some items entirely..). Someone has to call them on this stuff, or they will keep doing it. After all, isn't it profitable and lucrative to "trick" customers into purchasing a higher priced item because it is not clear how much the items cost. Oh, and also, they have a security guard who, if for whatever reason he doesn't like you, will follow you down practically every aisle of the store. ABSOLUTELY DEPLORABLE OPERATION!! I only go there when I absolutely have to. Given the choice, I would always try to find another place first and suggest you all do the same. SEND THESE JERKS A MESSAGE.

If you spilled your Snaple on yourself that is sad but not the store's fault. If you see a crack show it to the manager, you are prejudging him/her without giving them a chance. In the end you should vote with your feet and purchase your Snapples somewhere else.

Granted that that store may lack courtesy and professionalism, where in your posting does it indicate that you yourself act with any?

"I would always try to find another place first " Considering a city the size of Stamford has a supermarket every half mile, I fail to see the challenge. Perhaps it was the handling of the Snapple. We have an expert here who also has bathed in liquids prior and posted a must read guide on preventive measures. I guarantee he'll read this and hopefully will share his trusted advice.

What does 'tricking a customer into purchasing a higher priced item' have to do with a cracked bottle of snapple???

Cracked Snapple would be a good name for a rock band.

Maybe the security guard who, for whatever reason doesn't like you, saw you coming and cracked the bottle?

I can't stop myself from responding " Maybe you just spilled it like all the rest of us humans have done at some point or another in our lives" I would LOVE to have your worry-free life... spilt Snapple...AS IF

How do you know the bottle didn't crack on your way back from the store.

How could you not notice it leaking before you opened it? Sounds like user error to me.

If it was leaking or cracked before you bought it, don't you think the bottle would have been wet when you picked it up? Wouldn't the counter be wet? And if it was at the label level, wouldn't there have only been about a half of bottle? It obviously broke after you bought it...Maybe you can work some overtime to make up that $1.25.

"...isn't it profitable and lucrative to "trick" customers into purchasing a higher priced item because it is not clear how much the items cost"...always check your reciept before you leave the store and make sure they charged the right price.

" They completely lack any sense of courtesy or professionalism towards customers"...what exactly did they do or say to you? From your posting, you didn't even confront them at the store, you went on their website to complain.
